Excellent battery pack for multiple devices Review by Jody
Rating
This battery pack is a bit bigger, but somewhat less heavy than the much older new trent pack that I have. The 120 takes longer to charge, but with increased capacity I expected that. It charged all of our iPhones and both of our iPads multiple times and very quickly. There was no significant heat (as noted on previous devices) during charging with the battery pack.

I like the small leds around the power button. They are bright enough to see, but not so bright as to be distracting at night in a dark bedroom. The best part of this device is the multiple amperage outlet. I like being able to charge my device based on what the correct input should be. Overall, this is good if you have multiple devices and you aren't looking to put this pack in your pocket. It's far too big for that, but would be perfect in a computer bag or camera bag. The small velour pouch that comes with it is a nice touch. (Posted on 4/30/13)
Will Not Be Without One Review by Jacklyn

I took two on a three week safari and it was perfect. You can recharge anywhere. I gave the second one to our guide who was always on the look out for recharging opportunities. I used it for my IPad and IPhone, the guide used it for his laptop and IPhone. There is nothing better than sitting in the middle of the bush a hundred miles from civilization with a fully charged IPhone.

Once home I found I used it to recharge my phone in my purse or my IPad in bed at night because you're not tied to the electrical outlet. I love the sense of security it gives me. I'm ordering a spare for me and gifting them to my friends. (Posted on 4/23/13)
3 Days in the Woods! Review by Jolene

We took a 3 day hiking trip including kayaking with the NewTrent iCarrier. The size of the device combined with sheer capacity were the charger's biggest benefits. Because we have a limited waterproof area for travel, the fact that the charger was small and light was a huge plus, but the ability to keep both of our phones charged through the weekend and still having power if we needed it beyond those days was incredible. Our friends even topped off their phones through the weekend, but were always checking to see if their kids had called by turning their phones on and off, conserving battery. Kudos to NewTrent!! battery Charger Powerhouse Review by StringTech

New Trent’s iCarrier IMP120D with dual USB port comes packaged with an AC charger, micro USB cable, Galaxy Tab converter cable, AC-DC wall charger, soft pouch and the user manual.

It looks bulkier and heavier compared to my other dual port USB charger the New Trent IMP50D (5000mAh). The iCarrier IMP120D is a little over double the capacity of the IMP50D at 12000mAh, thus the size. It is by no means brick heavy. Although you won’t be able to carry it in your shirt pocket, I haven’t noticed any weight change when I put it in my messenger bag.

I like that it came with its own carrying pouch. It fits just enough to carry the cables with it and adapter that I need. The charger itself looks well-built and feels solid to the touch. The matte finish hardly showed fingerprints. The design looks modern and up to date.

I was able to figure out how to use the charger without referring to the user manual. Although, for proper use It is always a good idea to read the safety and maintenance page. It arrived already pre-charged to Low Level. I was able to charge my Samsung Galaxy 3 right off the bat.

I tried to time how long it would take to charge it to full capacity (High). I plugged it in at 9:27pm and went to bed at 12:15 – at this point it was already flashing on Medium. I recommend just charging it overnight before bedtime.

So far I’ve charged a Samsung Galaxy S3, 2 phones, Garminfone and an iPhone 3GS simultaneously and 2 tablets, iPad 1 and iPad 4 simultaneously. I do not recommend charging 2 tablets at a time because the charger got warmer to the touch unlike when charging just phones.

An upgrade of this charger would be having a built-in AC wall charger and built-in iPhone and Android cables. It will take the test of time to see if this charger will last as specified 500 cycles.

I highly recommend this charger. It is ideal for trips, long commute or just about anywhere an outlet is unavailable. Don’t be caught without one.

Satisfied new customer Review by Patty

I needed a power source to keep my phone and tablet charged throughout my extended flight times (average 6-10 hours in length). I was never the lucky one who had access to power outlets on the aircraft. Additionally, while attending all-day meetings or conferences, my phone would drain and I had no access to outlets. The New Trent IMP120D was my first purchase of an external battery, and the reliability and simplicity of the product sold me shortly after I used it for the first time. The two USB ports allow simultaneous charging of my iPhone and iPad. When I only have to charge my iPhone, I cheat and use the higher power level USB port to charge faster.

Perhaps a smaller case profile would make it less cumbersome. (Posted on 4/18/13)
Works well. Charges 2 iPads. Review by Ryan
Rating
I am on the road a lot, and it is not always easy to find power. The iCarrier supplied more mAh then then competing products at Best Buy, and has worked great so far. I haven't done precise tests, but it seem I get a full iPad and a full iPhone charge, and still have juice left over.

The one recommendation would be for the addition of a standard USB to DC tip cable. This would allow the use of regular 2amp USB chargers to power up the device in the evening. I made my own from an old USB cord and a connecter and tip I picked up from Radio Shack. This is an absolute must for the road warrior as there is just not enough room to carry a plug in transformer for every device. If not for this I would give it 5 stars. (Posted on 4/17/13)
Incredibly useful - never have a dead cell phone battery again Review by Aimee
Rating
First, let me start by saying that it definitely receives 5 stars. I cannot find a single negative thing to say about this product! I even had
my boyfriend use it to see what he thought, and he now wants to get one of his own.

The packaging is attractive. I like that it comes with a bag to carry it on the go and two cables for charging other items (I did not need/use those cables, though). It has a nice design and solid build quality. It is easy to use. You just plug it in to charge and the lights flash to let you know it is charging and how charged the battery is. Then, just push the power button and plug in anything that charges with a USB connection. You are able to charge two items at the same time, and the battery lasts a long time. I charged the battery while I slept and put it in my bag before I left the house. It is reasuring to know that I will never have a dead battery on my cell phone! I have the capability to charge my iPad, iphone, kindle, etc., while I am out, sitting in class, or wherever I might be. I absolutely recommend this external battery to anyone and everyone! I love this product! (Posted on 4/17/13)
Excellent Power!! Review by Edward
Rating
This is an excellent charger for any on-the-go person with multiple power-hungry devices, that may not have easy access to chargers/plugins. 12000 mAh means several phone charges, or one full phone and tablet recharge throughout the day. It is a bit bulky to fit in a pants or even jacket pocket, so if that's you, you may want to instead consider something smaller like the IMP52B from New Trent, albeit sacrificing battery capacity. It is fine in a bag/briefcase, and comes with a USB-micro USB cord, and has 2 USB ports compatible with all brands charging cords. I like that it has its own charger and port, as you know it's getting properly charged, however that can add more bulk and cords to remember when travelling. Overall an excellent product. Highly recommend to anyone. (Posted on 4/17/13)
Useful and well made Review by Jane
Rating
iCarrier consistently charges my iPad from 9% up to 100% and manages a phone top up too. On a holiday or volunteering trip where the electricity supply is uncertain, it will be a great help to have the iCarrier charging up when there is power so that it can keep our devices going when power supply fails. Only slight criticism is that the charge indication lights are very subtle which makes them a little tricky to see in bright daylight. Seems like a quality item. (Posted on 4/16/13)
Excellent charger. Has a lot of juice Review by Kimberly

I am very happy with this charger. Holds more than a full charge on my ipad mini and galaxy s3 phone. It charges quickly and doesn't take up too much space. Plus you can charge two devices at once. Pretty neat. (Posted on 4/11/13)
Great battery pack Review by Sam
Rating
This is a great battery pack. It charges phones/tablets very quickly. The
device itself holds a charge for a long time so I can use it for multiple
devices if I need to. The device itself also charges fast so I can grab it
and go when I need it. The size isn't bad for a large battery pack like
this. I've had others similar to this and the sizes are very comparable.
This is great for traveling or emergency situations when I need to power a
device before it dies.

My only minor complaint is that you have to charge the battery pack via the
included charger. It would be nice if this was a standard USB port that you
could charge it with. As someone who travels frequently I like to pack as
few chargers as possible. Being able to charge this via USB would allow me
to carry a single wall USB charger and a few cables to charge all of my
devices, including the battery pack.

Otherwise, this is a great back and I will continue to use it often. It is
well built and I can tell it will last me a long time. (Posted on 4/10/13)
Great long lasting backup Review by craig

Review for IMP120D, iCarrier, a dual port external battery

This unit is extremely versatile given it has 2 ports and a massive battery. Charging all my devices was not issue. I was able to full charge my iPad (twice)and Samsung SG3 fully and the unit is still on medium power remaining.

Pros

Large capacity battery

2 usb ports

Charges devices quickly

Cons

Size – to be expected given its battery size. You are not buying a unit with size battery for its small foot print

Another charging adapter – didn't like carrying another adapter to charge the unit. I like the battery packs that use a usb cab;e to recharge. According to power adapter, it is 5v, 2A. This can be done with an adapter using a usb cable, then that adapter can be used as your overnight device charger as well. Another thing to carry while traveling is a negative

Power on/off button – should power the device as soon as you plug it in.

Overall I am extremely happy with this charger and plan to use it as my primary backup charging device

4 out of 5 stars – 1 star less because of the additional power charger needed. (Posted on 4/9/13)
Couldn't ask for anything else from a portable charger Review by Ryan
Rating
As an owner of other New Trent products, I knew what to expect when I ordered the IMP120D, and I wasn't dissapointed. It's a strong, sturdy product with nice design and performs as advertised. 12000mAh is an amazing capacity to fit into a portable charger this size - you can charge your gadgets multiple times before needing to recharge this thing.

I have an iPhone and an iPad, so the dual ports are perfect for simultaneously charging both. The 12000mAH is huge, especially compared to other portable chargers. I've had several chargers and this is easily the most powerful one i've owned. It can COMPLETELY charge my iPad 2, which is asking a lot from a portable charger. I have a charger that's 7000mAh - it's strong but it will only charge my iPad 2 to about 70% from dead. Not only will this one charge it fully, it has enough power remaining to charge my iPhone.

The design is very modern - soft curved edges and very sleek. The power button is in a location that seems difficult to accidentally press. New Trent made this button slightly recessed in its location, but its still easy to locate. I haven't had any issues with the button being pressed on accident and i've shoved this thing in bookbags and tossed it around haphazardly. The charge status is easy to read as well - low, medium and high tells you how much remaining power on the device. Simple enough. It lights up when its in use, so its easy to glance at it and verify its doing its job.

It was surprised by how heavy it is, especially for a device that looks so small. It's significantly heavier than other chargers, but that is to be expected with 12000maH. Its a size that can fit a lot of pockets and sleeves if you're on the go. It would fit in your pants pocket, but probably wouldn't be comfortable. It's still smaller than George Costanza's wallet.

I'm very happy with the IMP120D. For now, I have it plugged next to my bed and use it to charge my devices at night. But its also good to know that I can throw it in my bookbag when i'm traveling and not have to worry about charging it for a long time. (Posted on 4/8/13)
Excellent Portable Peace of Mind Review by Dave
Rating
When looking for a quality portable charger that I could use to charge my phone and tablet while traveling without having to chain myself to an outlet, I found the iCarrier charger to be the best solution by far.
It has 12000mAh of power (to those who don't know, this is more than 4 times the battery charge on a standard phone battery), which means that I can charge my phone while its in my bag, while I'm walking through the airport, or any time really, even when I am on the phone talking.
I looked at Bestlocal retailers, and the cost for less than half the power charge was about twice as much $$. The compact size and soft carrying pouch make it easy to pack in my shoulder bag, and it doesn't weigh enough for me to notice that it's there.
2 USB ports mean I can charge 2 devices together, and I sometimes travel with other who run into the same dead phone syndrome that I do. Now we can both land with fully charged phones, ready for business.
My only concern so far was that the lights showing charge on the power button are a bit dim, but I don't often use it in the dark, and it is very easy to see when dark.
Overall I say for the business traveler, this is a perfect fit for a fair price! (Posted on 4/5/13)

Great portable charging solution Review by Mike
Rating
Overall I am blown away by this product. The amount of battery power in the package has come in very handy. I've been able to charge my iPad (3rd gen), HTC Droid DNA, Motorola Droid Razr Maxx, Samsung Galaxy Nexus and an iPhone 5 with no issues. The device recharges in a reasonable amount of time considering how large a capacity it holds. Also, it seems to charge devices a little faster than plugging into the wall. I only have 2 negatives for this device. First is size. I understand with 12000 mAh the package is probably as small as it can be, but maybe a slightly different shape to make it easier to fit into a front or back pocket. The other thing would be the possible addition of more USB ports. Two is definitely fine, but I think three or four would be amazing. Overall I would give the device 4.5 out of 5 stars and I know that I will be getting a ton of use out of the device in the future. One last point to add. I've actually found myself using this device even when I have an outlet available to me. (Posted on 4/4/13)
Great power backup for iPad, MP3 players, cell phones, etc Review by Megan
Rating
The IMP120D, iCarrier, dual usb port battery charger does exactly what it should and is a very handy device to own. With everyone having their own cell phone, MP3 player, and/or iPad or tablet of some sort, this is almost a necessity. This will be very handy, not just on vacations but also when you are away for the day. Not to mention handy during power outages!

It is able to recharge 2 devices at a time. I've tested it with my iPad and it went from 13% to 100% in a few hours. Normally this would take somewhere around half that time if it were plugged into a wall but really, who cares? You can still use it while it's charging so it's not an issue.

The instructions don't mention if it comes fully charged (it doesn't) or how long it takes to charge the device nor how to know when/if it is fully charged. It's fully charged when all of the blue lights stay on without blinking. It does show a picture sequence of the different levels (low, medium, and high) being lit up and later you realize that if you go through the sequence it will be fully charged. But you can't tell by the pic if the "lights" they're drawing are meant to show blinking lights or lights that are on steadily. Maybe it's just me but I didn't think that helped much. Instructions also don't mention that you have to push in the button to turn on the unit before it will charge your device(s). Yes, you'll figure it out eventually but if you're going to bother including instructions they really should be instructive.

This product comes with 2 cords that attach to the device and whose other ends can plug into a USB port or "standard" cell phone port. It also comes with a black velvety drawstring carry bag. I like that it comes with a bag but was disappointed that the bag cannot hold both the unit AND the cords and charger. The box says an AC charger is included although the instructions do not and there is not another cord or charger. A charger that could charge this unit in the car would've been handy to include.

While I pointed out my issues with the bag, box and instructions, the unit itself is definately a 5 star product. It is one I believe I will be using very often. (Posted on 4/4/13)
New Trent IMP120D iCarrier Battery Pack still packs a punch! Review by Simone
Rating
I currently own two other battery packs but the IMP120D iCarrier dual USB port battery pack at 12000mAh definitely gives me the power I need to keep my iPad 3 and phone charged during a long day away at school and into the evening before I make it back home for the night. Fully charged, the IMP120D was able to take the iPad from about 14% to 80% in about 7 hours with minimal use like checking email during the first 1/2 an hour and left alone for the remaining time. After charging a friends Samsung Brightside phone 1 time, I was left with enough power to take the iPad 3 from around 25% to around 60%. with normal use like checking email, Facebook and general browsing. Not sure if this is what is normal for this particular pack but the iPad 2 seems to get the most and fullest charge from the IMP120D. The battery pack itself is fairly compact with a slight heft to it. It is slightly bigger and thicker than what would fit in a pocket but fits
nicely in its own carry pouch, which can then be carried in a back pack.

Pros
* Multiple charging ports

* Comes in its own carry pouch

* Included charging cord and USB charging cords for the Samsung Galaxy tab and other micro USB devices.

* Simple design and easy to use with one button operation

Cons
* Indicator light can be a bit misleading. After being plugged to the iPad 3 for about 1 1/2 hours the IMP120D showed that the remaining power was at 1 dot or low. The battery pack, however, charged the iPad for an additional 5 1/2 hours before it was out.

* Compared to other New Trent battery packs, the IMP120D did not feel as solid ( felt heavier but not solid). It also had a bit of give to it when squeezed

* The blue counter strip running around the skinny edges of the pack seemed to make the IMP120D feel and look less sturdy and I couldn't help but feel like the blue portions would be the first thing to break of if the battery pack fell hard enough.

* Noticed the battery pack would get a little hot when charging the iPad 3 for an extended period of time compared to the other battery pack that I have.

* Charging cord and adapter USB cords do not fully fit in the carrying pouch nor would another phone so the battery pack and accessories would need to be carried in a backpack or purse

* Battery pack is a little on the heavy side, and is not really purse friendly, especially if you carry it with an ipad enclosed in a keyboard case.

Suggestions
* An attached micro USB like what is on the NT600C would be a great addition since the IMP120D is already heavier. This would cut down on the need to carry 2 different charging cords for those that do not have all iProduct devices.

* I really liked some of the other New Trent battery packs that had multi-line indicators that gave a truer sense of how much juice was really remaining.

Overall I think I would rate the IMP120D iCarrier dual USB port battery pack at a 4. It did provide a fuller charge for my iPad 3 compared to other less powerful packs but also took quite a while to charge, which is understandable given its higher capacity. This was not so much an issue at school because there are a few outlets that I could plug the battery itself in to recharge but would be more of a problem if in a location where an outlet was not accessible. On days when I forget to charge the iPad and phone via a wall plug overnight, I then have to make a decision on which to charge (the iPad enough to last the day and into the evening, or my phone and partially charge the iPad). I also gave this rating because the battery pack was just less portable due to its weight and having to carry the battery and any additional cords/USB plugs separately in addition to an iPad and phone. The perfect mix of size and substance Review by Robert

I recently purchased the iCarrier from New Trent in preparation for the upcoming golf season as well as to augment my power needs as a busy tech professional. I currently employ both an iPad as well as an iPhone 4Gs in my daily work as a Systems Analyst as well as using my iPhone as a golf GPS throughout the golf season. In both situations, I tend to drain the batteries on my devices quite a bit and having an external battery to offset their use allows me the freedom to work away from more traditional power sources.

As a long-time user of the older IMP500 model batteries offered by New Trent I figured I pretty much knew what to expect. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the iCarrier came with not only the accessories I would have expected but also a bag to keep all the components together for easy traveling. In addition, the sturdy construction and well thought out design made me confident that I'd made the right choice. The unit charged up to full quicker than expected (given it's impressive 12000 mAh capacity) and the ability to charge both my iPad and iPhone at the same time was extremely helpful. I especially loved that when you unplugged a device from the charger, the iCarrier would automatically power down to avoid draining it's battery any more than necessary. While the unit doesn't quite give a full charge to a depleted iPad it was more than adequate for my needs and I'd readily recommend it to anyone looking for an on-the-go accessory to keep their tech devices running at full capacity.

The only suggestion I'd have would be a light sensor built into the device to keep the status bars brighter in daylight and dimmer in low-lit situations. This is certainly a minor issue and overall I would highly recommend this product to anyone. (Posted on 4/3/13)
Outstanding Product! Review by Sara

The New Trent iCarrier 12000mAh Dual USB Ports External Battery Pack did not disappoint! I recently chaperoned 50 high school students for a week in New York. Each time we entered the tour bus one or two kids would ask if they could charge their phones on my iCarrier charger. After a week of this, and keeping a charge on my own phone, I did not have to recharge the battery all week. By the time I got home my battery was on low. It also kept my IPad2 charged on the long bus ride home! I would highly recommend this product for travelers. It was nice to have a product that would charge two devices at one time and be an ongoing help to all the kids I was with. Many asked me where they could get one and were surprised at how affordable it is. Before I bought this product I did a lot of research and the name New Trent kept coming up. I was watching a tennis match and telling my husband about what I was finding out about this product, and a man in front of us turned around and said New Trent has great products. He enthusiastically told me about the portable charger he bought from them and how pleased he was with it. So that sealed the deal for me! Can't wait to try some of their other products! Amazing Power Pack with lots of Battery Review by Euge
Rating
I received the IMP 120D and I was impressed. This 12000 mAh device was able to charge my Tablet and Phone within 3 hours. My Nexus 7 tablet was at 11% and the Nexus 4 at 24%. I was able to charge the phone a second time from a 23% level and the Tablet from 75%. I've also used the power pack to keep the tablet and phone fully charged for a constant use of 6 hours, still leaving the Power Pack at over 50% and my devices at 100%. The 120D has a slick design that can fit easily into a pocket for field use. It came with the power cable for my Nexus devices and a carrying pouch. It is a perfect accessory and makes using the power pack while walking around in the field an easy task. If you use your devices for Ingress, GeoCaching or simply use your phone all the time this device will keep you topped off for over a day. (Posted on 4/3/13)

Great Charger despite its Size Review by Gizmokid2005

I've had this device since October 2012 and I have to say I really love this device. This has definitely exceeded my expectations and is a lifesaver.

Pros:
*The battery life of this thing is just sensational. I can use it for a week at a time charging my Captivate Glide without running low on battery, or I can go at least a day or two using it to charge both my Captivate Glide and my Nexus 7.
*Both ports are relatively high-speed ports. One is 1A and the other is 2.1A. This is much nicer than a lot of chargers which are only .5A which don't typically charge a device that is in heavy use.
*The charge time of the device isn't too terrible either and it includes very handy charge indicator lights.

Cons:
*The device cannot charge via a USB cable, but instead must be charged with the included charger. Not a huge con, but it is a bit of an inconvenience to have to carry that to charge this device.
*You MUST use one of their cables to realize the full charging capabilities of the device. The cables themselves are shorted to handle the proper charge voltages, whereas most cables you buy these days allow data as well and consequently will only allow you to charge at .5A from the ports rather than their rated 1 or 2.1A.

Overall, this is a nice device, even if it is slightly bulky. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a portable battery, my wife constantly steals mine and gives it back to me dead, so if you have a spouse who's a heavy battery user, definitely buy 2!

The only other thing that concerns me, is this device is listed as having a 500 cycle capacity, and that seems kind of low, but we'll see how long it lasts. (Posted on 4/2/13)

I've been using this product for a little over two weeks now. I couldn't be more pleased with it really. It charges my phone iPhone VERY quickly! It comes with a small carrying pouch which is actually big enough for me to fit my charging cable in with the battery as well. This product is a convenient size; I put it in my back pocket so I can charge it while I'm walking if I happen to run out of battery. I camp a lot and I usually don't have access to an electrical outlet. The IMP120D makes it so I don't have to worry about running out of power; since I can get nearly six full recharges on one full charge. The other cool feature is that it has two USB charging ports. This allows you to charge two devices at once. I find it very convenient to charge my iPhone and my Kindle at the same time. The ONLY thing that I would change is that once the LEDs are fully lit, you can never really know that it's truly 100% charged. I have already been recommending it to my friends and I will continue to do so. (Posted on 3/29/13)

I bought this product to take on a 10 hour bus ride each way chaperoning kids on a field trip. Charged my iPad mini 2 times, and kept my iphone charged as well. It was invaluable to be able to keep these items up and running as the trip would have been unbearable without the distraction these items provided. All the adults were wanting this product. Had no problems charging the unit or with any use of product. Simple and easy to use. Plan on adding another battery to my collection to keep the hubby powered up on the go as well. Great battery-backup/charger! Review by Nate

I purchased this unit (iCarrier IMP120D) at the recommendation of a friend, who has an earlier model. I could not be happier!

My phone is a Samsung Galaxy Note 2, by cell phone standards it has an enormous battery (3100mAh) and usually takes a while to charge. With a usb cable plugged into "output 2," it charges at 2.1A! I can go from almost zero battery to fully charged in about a half hour, which is better than an AC charger.
I have charged my phone 3 times with the iCarrier on 1 charge.
The iCarrier IMP120D is small in size, fairly lightweight, and is built very sturdy (it doesn't feel fragile at all)

I'm quite pleased and pleasantly surprised by the performance of this unit. I recommend it to anyone who has to frequently recharge their phone or other small usb powered devices.

I give it an A+ with 2 thumbs up! (Posted on 3/17/13)
No need to hunt down an outlet! Review by Jason

At least, I don't have to seek out an outlet for when my phone battery gets low at an inconvenient moment. A charged-up unit was able to keep my phone AND tablet running for a whole weekend!

I like the size; square and compact, it fits in a jacket pocket with no problem for use on-the-go.

2 USB ports mean I can hook up any device that charges with a USB cable, so I can even let my partner charge his iProducts.

Considering how measly phone batteries are at staying charged with the use we put them through these days, an external battery like this is ideal, and I felt the price is reasonable, especially if you consider that I paid an extra $30 for the extended battery on my Galaxy Nexus and that provided a mere few extra hundred mA. I love my iPhone, but the battery rarely lasts all day. That's usually OK, unless the power goes out in my home (weather related, not because I haven't paid my bill) : - ) Anyway, I have been looking for a reliable charger, that was reasonably priced and easy to use. The iCarrier is exactly what I needed. It's user friendly and and works great! You can't really put a price on peace of mind, but this seems worth every penny.

Loving this charger. I think the size is perfect for traveling and is not too heavy. It was easy to use and able to charge two devices at once. I like that you don't have to recharge it all the time and It charges iphones quickly. The only thing I would of liked is being able to see exactly what percentage is left in the battery, so it would be easier to know when to charge. (Posted on 3/7/13)

After my cell phone battery became warped, it wasn't able to hold a charge for more than 3 minutes without me using it and less when in use. Ordering the wrong battery further delayed my dilemia. I received the ICarrier charger: and it came right on time and was very handy. I was able to carry my phone around in my purse, while it stayed charged. It would have been helpful to have instructions, but it is so user friendly, I didn't really need it. I so love my travel companion and will never leave home without it.

I was looking for a birthday present for my father when I stumbled on the iCarrier. He recently returned from a trip and is planning to go on another within a few weeks and I thought this would be perfect for him to use while away. He has an iPhone and iPad2. I played around with the iCarrier a bit to get a feel for it.

Pros:
Dual USB ports 2a/1a - charge tablets and smartphones simultaneously
12000mAh is pretty beefy and should charge just about any device to full
Ease of use - one single button - on/off
Auto-shut off - Once device is full, unit shuts off to conserve battery

Cons:
Plastic body constuction - flexes when squeezed - will probably crack if dropped
External charger - need to carry it with you - will not fit in carry pouch - would be better if a foldable plug was built in
Only three battery indicator lights - Low/Med/High - would be nice if it had more like the iTorch which has five

All in all, this is a solid portable charger that will keep your devices powered up while away from any outlets for an extended period of time. With a few tweaks, this product would be five stars. (Posted on 3/6/13)
Great for School, Great for Travel! Review by Andrei

This is how I stumbled upon this little guy, I liked the specs and features so decided to give it a go.

The Good:

I can say I was nothing short of amazed, not only is the 12000mAh battery great and lasts a long time, but the ability to charge at 2 Amps for my tablet is handy. I find myself charging every-time I need to and its so big I use it 2-3 days at least and since this puppy is able to charge with two USB ports at once, keeping my devices charged is no problem whatsoever. It fits in my pocket so that's always a big plus.

The Bad:

Even though overall build quality is very good, I would have appreciated if the exterior was a bit more rubbery as the plastic is easy to scratch and dent.
Also, even-though the blue streak is classy, I would have liked to be able to choose between some more classy colors such as silver.
Thirdly, this is a bit on the pricey side when it comes to batteries but you also have to admit this baby is very feature-rich. I think its a good trade-off...

Overall:

I've had this product for about 2 months now and I can say its been holding up to my expectations. The battery does not make a difference when it comes to holding a charge (compared to when out of the box), it still charges great and the build quality is very good. I would recommend this product to anyone. (Posted on 3/5/13)

I have had the IMP120D for about 4 months, and I absolutely love it. I use it regularly with my Galaxy Nexus phone, and Nexus 7 tablet. I have also used it for a 2nd Generation iPod touch, and 4th Generation iPod touch, and it has worked great, but I don't use those devices regularly. When using the IMP120D with my Android devices, use of the included MicroUSB cable is a necessity, because it is a charge only cable, which will provide the full 1 or 2.1A power to the connected device, which is required for a fast charge. When using a normal MicroUSB cable, it will charge in USB mode, which will only provide a 500mA charge rate. I have not yet found a place to buy just the MicroUSB that is included, but if New Trent sold just the cable, I would buy more of them. I highly recommend the IMP120D, it has never left me with dead devices. (Posted on 2/28/13)

I received the New Tent NT120T USB Chargeable 12000MaH HEAVY DUTY 2a/1a dual USB Ports External battery pack and I was stunned.

From its sleek design and its solid build and black smooth finish I fell in love with it. It is compact and made by Idealpoint. What's not to love? Instead of looking for three electrical outlets for my Ipad, Iphone and Kindle Fire, I can charge them without worrying about a power outage. It's great for travel, to charge in the car or on trips.

It is compatible with many smart phones, Ipads and Kindle. I charged all three of my devices and still had three lights on the unit. It charged quicker than the original cables that came with my devices.

This charger will come in handy on a trip when using a GPS which drains power from your phone.

I don't know how I lived before I received this charger. Buy it, you will love it, even if you have only one device. By the way, the charger fits perfectly in the CaseCrown hard cover case to protect it and hold your cables. I couldn't be happier and can't take my eyes of it. I would rate it 10 stars if I could. I love it. (Posted on 2/1/13)
Solid build quality, but has room for improvement Review by Bill

The unit has a good, solid build quality to it, and I like the feel of the rounded edges. The on/off button feels a little cheap to me, though, and I'm hoping that this isn't going to be a point of failure in the future. The unit charged in a good amount of time, and has been able to recharge my iPhone several times before needing to recharge the battery itself. The only other thing I'll note is minor, and it involves the labeling of the outputs. Although it's true that you can find how many amps are provided from each output by looking at the back of the device and reading the small print, it'd be easier and faster for the user to see this information next to the outputs themselves. It'd be one slight improvement that would really help the user. (Posted on 1/30/13)
Great backup charger for all my gadgets! Review by DavidNY

After Hurricane Sandy kept my house out of power for 14 days, I decided to look for a backup charger and found this New Trent iCarrier IMP120D at 12000mAh.

Below are some of the reasons/pros I like about this backup charger:

1) a charger for all my electronic gadgets (an Apple iPod4, a New iPad3, an iPad3 Bluetooth keyboard case, a Blackberry Bold, a Sansa Fuze mp3 player, a Sansa Clip+ mp3 player, Garmin Nuvi GPS 1390LMT, Garmin Nuvi GPS 350, Garmin Nuvi 255W and a future Samsung Galaxy S3 or S4).
2) compatible with any portable devices using USB charging interface
3) great for my long business trips and family vacations
4) small and portable
5) great reviews on Amazon and New Trent company websites
6) special offers (buy this and get something else at discount or for free)

However, I do have few minor issues/cons with this charger:
1) weight could be a little lighter, but I understand it'll be hard because of its capacity
2) no instruction was included with the product so I didn't know how long to charge initially, but it's easy to figure out for any regular electronic users
3) remaining battery power is shown as High/Medium/Low rather than an actual percentage

All in all, 5 stars for this great product!!! (Posted on 1/29/13)

I have already been through one cycle with the iCarrier and so far I am very satisfied. I used it to charge my iPhone 5 four times and the surprising thing was that the charge time seemed shorter than with an adapter although I did not take time measurements. Charging the iCarrier took a while but that is understandable given the capacity. Weight and dimensions are also less than I expected making the pack wieldy and very good for road warrior use. I will provide a follow up once I test it in extreme conditions next month. (Posted on 1/25/13)

I give this item a 5/5! :) So far, I have no complaints for the dual charger. It is absolutely wonderful! It has come in handy and saved me so many times since I have received it. The best things about it are, not only does it give my electronics a full charge, but it charges them really quickly! Much quicker than normal. So much so that I've started using it to charge my items versus just plugging them in an outlet. I love that it is small and compact. I can carry it in my purse and take it with me to work (or anywhere I go). Lastly, I think it is great that the charger will charge just about any item. (Posted on 1/25/13)

The device is really nice and compact and appears fairly sturdy. I have only used it for two weeks and it seams to be able to charge both of my phones for two nights in a row.

There few minor things I would like to see improved are to have it in a rectangular vs. sqare shape. I think I'll be better able to fit it in my gear. Also I would like to have a micro USB cable coming out of it so I don't have to carry extra cable.

Last but not least if comes with bulky charger so if you want to recharge it while travelling you need to carry it. For me that's not an issue since I get enough charge to not have to carry the charger.

Great External Battery Pack Review by Hardcore

I recently purchased two New Trent External Battery Packs (iCarrier IMP120D) for Christmas gifts, one for my mom and one for my wife. Both use them frequently and have had only good things to say about the product. It’s powerful, easy to use, and reliable.

I borrowed my wife’s while I was out of town for the weekend hunting and I must say that it was very convenient not having to limit the use of my phone to conserve the battery life while away from a power source. One charge on the iCarrier kept my smartphone going all weekend.
After posting this review I am ordering one for myself.

Pros: small and lightweight; charges devices very quickly -- faster than the AC chargers.

Cons: LEDs are small and not easy to see.

Recommendations:
This is a great charger! It charges devices very quickly -- much faster that the OEM supplied AC charger. A few minor disadvantages are: (1) it is not possible to know when the device is fully charged. The LED light flashes, but never comes on steady. (2) When charging a device, the user must push the power button to see how much charge remains on the battery. Those are minor issues that do not affect the overall performance. Highly recommend this charger! (Posted on 1/25/13)
Excellent and essential external battery pack everyone should have! Review by aigochamaloh

Right off the bat, the iCarrier IMP120D exudes quality. The battery is well presented in a box with a matte finish and has all the information you need about the battery pack. It has typical talk times, as well as the specifications for the battery pack, printed on the back. Inside, you will find the external battery pack covered in protective plastic, the user manual, AC adapter, a micro USB cable, a USB extension cable, and a soft carrying pouch.

The New Trent iMirror IMP60D I already own came similarly well packaged and well accessorized. That battery pack has been an invaluable add-on to my daily routine, as it quickly charges my phone and iPad daily when I run them out of juice and will last a couple days before I need to charge it.

One area the iCarrier IMP120D improves on is the finish of the whole casing. The iMirror has a glossy finish, which attracts fingerprints and scratches easily, just like anything else with a glossy black piano finish. The iCarrier, however, has a nice matte black case, trimmed with blue running along the middle of the whole case. The finish is not rubberized, so it won’t wear down and gloss over with extended use.

The power button and the two USB ports reside together on one side of the case. Blue LEDs surround the power button indicating operation and internal battery charge status (Low, Mid, High). Operation is simple. Just plug in your device and hold the power button till the pack turns on. The LEDs light up indicating current charge, then fade out, leaving only the power LED on to indicate usage.

The iCarrier can only be charged through the included AC adapter. It pulls 2A of current and fully charges the pack from dead in about 7 hours. With this full charge, I have easily charged my Galaxy S3 from flat dead to full just over 6 times on one charge on the iCarrier. It’s just plain awesome to be able to have that power and portability in a very lightweight package about the size of my palm. However, I really would like to see the addition of a micro USB charge port for flexibility and just so I can consolidate the number of chargers on the go.

In a nutshell, the iCarrier IMP120D is excellent value for the quality and convenience it provides. More people need to know that this product exists and how it can make a big difference every day, and even be invaluable in emergencies where there is no power!

I rate it a 4. I like the capacity and it's perfect for its intended use for travel, conferences where my iPhone won't make it through the day, and emergencies (we just went through Hurricane Sandy where people ran out of cellphone juice really fast and had nowhere to charge up). I bought several of these as holiday gifts and the recipients were very happy. As a suggestion for future product iterations, I would suggest using a standard charging cord that can be plugged into a standard 2 Amp charger like the iPad charger so I don't have to carry an extra charger. Another alternative would be to have integrated foldable plugs. (Posted on 1/24/13)

I received the Icarrier and was thrilled to see that it was halfway charged. I brought it to a complete charge so that I could fully test out the charged on the iPad 3. The Icarrier did a great job charging my iPad. Of course it takes a long time to charge, but not because of the Icarrier, just something with Apple and how they made this system. My iPad was 45 percent charged. It took 6 hours to bring it to full charge.

The iPad 2 was at 68 percent capacity. It took 2 hours and 45 minutes to charge back up to 100 percent. I was checking email and streaming at the same time.
My iphone 4 was at 56 percent charge. It took the Icarrier 75 minutes to charge it back to 100 percent.

Overall I love this charger. I only wish it would beep or make a sound when it's fully charged. (Posted on 1/24/13)

I got this from Amazon to keep my mobile devices charged on the go. I owned various units below 3000mAh and wanted something with more muscle. This unit will charge two devices FAST. Plenty of juice left to do additional phone recharges without having to recharge the unit itself every night. I use this to charge my 7" Galaxy Tab 2 no problem. I throw this in my bag when I head out and it is great as insurance when I need juice. Unit was very well made and so far, holding up pretty well. It is not too big, slightly bigger than the palm of my hand, and has a little heft to it, certainly does not look nor feel cheaply made. Good quality feel, I recommend this unit, although retail price is higher than other competitive units of this size, but I bought it on sale, so all is good. This is especially useful if you use a mobile hotspot. It certainly kept a mifi going for 4-5 hours without breaking a sweat. (Posted on 1/23/13)

The first thing that I noticed when I opened the package was that there were adapter cables for most applications. Since I use an iPad 2, an iPhone 4 as well as a Nokia N08 smartphone, I was delighted to see that there were more than enough adapters for the Apple products.
When first plugged in to an electrical outlet, the iCarrier took approximately 7 hours to charge. On the top of the unit, there is a blue LED indicator that displays the state of the charger in one- third increments. Once it was fully charged, I left the unit overnight to assess if it would hold a charge. After checking the next morning, it was still fully charged.
I was able to charge both my iPad as well as iPhone from an almost totally discharged state (less than 5% on the iPad, and a totally depleted iPhone). Just to see what the percentage of each would be, I recharged my iPad first. It took me approximately 4.5 hours to recharge the iPad. The indicator on the iCarrier showed that it still had a charge of one-third capacity remaining. I was then able to still get a 80% charge into the iPhone with the original charger capacity. I am sure that once the battery in the iCarrier is conditioned, the capacity and rate of charge will increase.
The iCarrier also comes with a soft carrying bag, which helps protect the matte black finish on the unit, as well as the other electronics that I carry on a daily basis including an Apple MacBook Air, iPad 2 and the cables and accessories that are necessary for my day to day use. This charger is very intuitive to use, like most of the devices that it is meant to charge. Physically, it really isn’t too heavy for the battery capacity it holds, and doesn’t add any weight to my daily work-loaded briefcase.
The bottom line: This is a great little unit to carry with your iPad, iPhone or a myriad of other smartphone models that you may have. It holds a charge, and compared to similar units, rapidly recharges depleted units to 100% battery. I’ve had other external battery packs, and this by far, surpasses them all.

A friend of mine told me about his NewTrent mobile battery pack. So, I did some research and found the IMP120D to be the best unit available for the price, and determined it would be the right size for my needs. It's easy to use, the controls are intuitive, and has smart circuitry; it knows when your device is done charging and shuts itself off. The unit has exceeded my expectations. It's a great feeling knowing you have several recharges at hand for your device(s) should your main power source go down or become unavailable. The only criticism I have is with regard to the bag. I would like to see a plastic bag that might protect the unit from minor moisture with enough room for the charger.
This is my first NewTrent product, however I am certain I'll be purchasing more in the future.

The size of this makes it ideal to carry along anywhere you go. This can fit into pockets, jackets or just about anywhere. I travel for work leaving me on the road for hours a day. It took me about 3 hours to fully charge the unit, and it charged my Motorola Razr Maxx over 3 times. I also used it to charge my Apple MacBook Pro. I plugged it in and was able to use the labtop for about 3 hours on the unit alone. After I shut it down, the battery continued to charge for about another hour before dying. I used it to charge both my phone and headset, both which were low on battery. It charged both up to full strength. I really think the 3 second pause before start function is awesome as I tend to hit the power button on accident a lot. I usually keep this in my labtop carrier.
My only recommendation is not for the unit itself, but to the carrying sac provided. It would be nice for it to fit not only the unit itself, but the a/c charger as well. Or another option would be to allow the unit to be charge via USB port as well if possible. (Posted on 1/22/13)

Taking the unit out of the packaging the battery didn't seem as sturdy as I would prefer. giving it a slight squeeze I can feel the plastic giving. Don't know if this is designed for better unit cooling or not but I didn't like it. It felt as if it might shatter if dropped. I charged the unit twice and did two separate item charge tests. The first brought my ipad from dead charge to apx 40% charge, and my iphone at apx 20% to 100%.

Second test was able to get iphone at 20% charge to 100 and at 60% back to 100% as well as getting ipad recharged from 65% charge to 97%.

It will work well when your in an area where you cant access power. I dont' see issue getting at least 2 charges for my iphone. Its compact enough where it shouldn't create a large addition to a carry on provided you have a bit of space available. Believe it might be more suited to a business traveler rather then field engineer or outdoors type individual. Overall, impressed. I'd definitely take it in the field for a quick re-juice. Great Battery Backup Review by Trevor

I first tested the iCarrier on my iPad 4 which I made sure had 0% battery remaining and my iPod touch which had about a 20% battery life remaining. It was able to quickly charge the iPod 4 to full capacity but ran out of juice on my iPad 4 after it was charged to about 78% capacity.

I charged the iPad 4 by itself again after I had run it down to 18% battery life and it was able to fully charge the device rather quickly.

The power button needs to be held in to prevent you from accidentally powering it on and having the battery drain for no reason, this is a great feature but isn't really explained in the documentation.

I like that you can see if there is low, medium or high battery life left on the device but am wondering if it would be possible to see how much life is left while one of my devices is charging.

The design of the iCarrier is really nice. Matt black with blue trim and a power button that glows while powered on. It also came with a nice carrying pouch for storage and two usb connection cables for different devices. I really like the nice little extras like that.

I have been taking the iCarrier with me while I travel for work. Even though I have not been far from a power source I have chosen to use the iCarrier. It is very convenient to be able to use my device while it is charging and not be tethered to a wall outlet. (Posted on 1/21/13)

This charger works for both my iPhone and iPad - it's tough to find the portable iPad chargers right now! It held out and worked for an 8 hour drive to keep my devices charged. The iCarrier charges fast and is durable - it has been dropped several times and woks just fine! (Posted on 1/20/13)

External Battery Well Worth Buying Review by West
Rating
PROS:
-Amazing charge capacity for the size and convenience of the battery - well worth the price paid.
-Easy to use - it is a very intuitive product and the battery indicator light makes recharging the battery a simple process.
-Very durable construction - I feel comfortable allowing this to move around in my backpack during my travels.

CONS/Suggestions for Improvement
-The included pouch is too small to hold the plug to charge the battery. This means that I need to be conscious about where the plug is in my bag, and be sure to not misplace it. It would be much better if the bag was slightly larger to hold everything for the battery!
-Cannot be charged using a microUSB. This would be a must-do for the next generation, as it would allow for the battery to be charged in a higher variety of locations, and would make the overall pouch lighter to carry (foregoing the DC adapter if I know I won't be needing it for that day).
-The indicator lights are too bright for night-time charging. It may be wise if the indicators lights automatically dim after 30 seconds, and light up again when one presses the power button to check the charging process.

All in all, you won't regret buying this product! (Posted on 1/18/13)

Things that I really like about this product are the compact design, its ability to charge any of the devices I have at home (iPad, iPod, iPhone, Galaxy S3, etc.), how quickly it charges my devices and how long its actually battery lasts.

The design is nice, compact and professional. It fits into my back pack in several different pockets and has the nice little bag protector to protect it from any scratches. The lighting system is simple and easy to read. The colors are great.

I really like how I can charge my phone with it after a long day at school and also charge my iPad with it at the same time. It is really convenient. They charge fast and I don’t need to worry about my devices dying on me as I go to work after school.

Great charger, really packs a punch! Review by Kevin

The unit is packaged and protected well - not too much, not too little. Nice branded box, and plastic protection on the surfaces so the unit shows up in mint condition with no cardboard abrasions. The felt pouch is a really nice touch, and immediately reminds you that you purchased a NewTrent product.

The LEDs show the charge current level, which is a nice touch as you immediately know what the charge level is. The LEDs themselves (Low/Mid/High) are not too bright and not too dim. I might suggest using the abbreviation "Med" for the medium charge level, instead of "Mid" (for middle?) as it is more accurate and better relates to power levels and other uses in the industry.

The casing seems very durable - quite rigid and sturdy. This is important as the larger battery inside needs protection from the elements, and also the user is well protected from the internal battery. The unit is very compact and sleek, and has the blue/black style - in accordance with other NewTrent charger products.

One really nice feature is it charges a device while it is being re-charged itself. This makes it quite handy in emergency situations where you need to get it charged up, but also need to utilize what juice is still in there.

The controls (only one button) are very intuitive and mirror other NewTrent products/buttons. They are easy to figure out, and impossible to screw up.

Overall, the IMP120D is really impressive. It has enough juice to charge a whole group of phones, and the multiple USB ports make it well suited for a business environment, or otherwise small group meetings. It can handle any situation. I would highly recommend this charger to anyone, as it has the ultimate in charge-ability and is suitable for any situation. It is not as small as some of the other NewTrent products, but it packs a lot more juice, and can go a lot longer, making it more useful and more portable for any charging need.

Having been an HTC Thunderbolt owner for 1.5 years, I always had spare phone batteries, but with my recent upgrade to the Droid DNA I enetered the uncharted (for me) non removable battery waters.

Well this product certainly helped me make a splash! The IMP120D packs 12,000 mAh into an impressive form factor...like although it is a little bulky in my pants pocket with my phone I can fit both in there with ease if need be! That's impressive for such a high mAh battery pack! In Summer time with cargo shorts, the extra pockets will carry this battery pack with ease...making those all day family/friend Summer BBQ's or concert tailgates smartphone worry free as you will have more than enough juice for you and probably 3-4 of your friends! Obviously this battery pack will fit easily and seamlessly into any backpack, laptop bag or purse (for you ladies) and not take up much space at all!

The IMP120D comes with two USB chargine ouputs, which is awesome, rated 5V/1A and 5V/2A. Using Output 2 (5V/2A) I was able from a fully charged battery pack fully charge my iPad 2 (approx. 7,000mAh battery in that) in 3 hours and my Droid DNA (2,020mAh) in an hour and half (I used it a little bit during the charge time, which probably cost about 15 min). I then ran my phone down and was able to charge it again almost 80% (again with some use during the charge)! That's a lot of backup juice! Also to note you should use the included micro USB to USB cable they supply. In secondary tests with other cables I had, the charge time was slower, probably due to the fact that those cables aren't able to carry 5V/2A.

So how about looks and design? The IMP120D is a sharp looking device. All black with some cool blue trim and a blue LED power display, it is a well designed device. My personal preference would be to see a digital number display for battery life left, but the low, mid, high indicators certainly let you know where you stand with your remaining power.

I cannot express how happy I am with the IMP120D! I can now feel free to use my Droid DNA with reckless abandon and never have to fear running out of battery because I can recharge my phone 5 times with this device on hand!

A great product by a great company which I highly recommend. (Posted on 1/14/13)

I was originally drawn to this produce by the large 12000mAh capacity at a very affordable price, as well as the great reviews associated with it. I've seen competitor's products with half the mAh for $30 more. When I first received the product I was very impressed with the size, since it was smaller than I would have expected. I did have an issue where one of the Outputs didn't give a charge. I must have received a dud. I reported the issue and was offered a free replacement. The replacement came in quick and this battery pack is problem fee. Both ports now work. Great device to use on a train/plane or camping trip. (Posted on 1/12/13)

I work for a company that requires me to be on the road and outside for extended periods of time. Having this portable rechargable battery has been a blessing for me as I am not always in a place where I can find myself near an outlet. I use a smartphone that usually would run dead about halfway through the day. Using this allows me to go days between charging it on my house charger. I like the light weight feature, as well as the dual port to allow me to charge 2 devices at once. I also like the 3 second pause on the power button to avoid accidental power ups. The only con I have is the pouch that comes with the battery pack. I wish it was a tad bit bigger to hold both the charger and the pack itself. Other than that, this has exceeded my expectations! New Trent IMP120D iCarrier 12000mAh Heavy Duty 2A/1A Dual USB Ports External Battery Pack for the Latest Apple iPhone 5, the new iPad, iPad2, iPhone 5 Review by Lynn

I purchased the NewTrent 12000 after getting an iPad 4 and iPhone5 in November. Unlike my previous iProducts I noticed they appeared to be power hogs even though I carefully changed the "push" notifications. I didn't want to continually have my devices on the wall charger so I started looking for external battery packs. After carefully reading about latest model comparable chargers, I decided to order the NewTrent and the reviews have not let me down.

I can now enjoy the freedom of not being tethered to the wall and throw the charger into my purse or car console when I know I will be in areas where my devices might be searching signals or be used a lot. I have several times had both plugged in and am pleased with how quickly they charge and how many times I can go without charging my NewTrent. It is a great buy. I won't be one of their persons leaving my iPhone in an airport wall charger and afraid someone will steal it. I can sit wherever I want knowing that I will have a full charge. (Posted on 1/8/13)

I ABSOLUTLY LOVE my external battery charger. I have an Ipad3 and it seems like everything I buy for it doesn't work. This works wonderfully. I would rate it a 5 for that reason alone. I can definitely recommend this battery pack! I've had it for about a month now and like it very much. The form factor is great (rounded, so it fits in your bag easily), looks good, and feels quite small for the high capacity. It is very powerful (I did not scientifically measure the mAh, but find that it holds a lot of power), and it also charges quite fast. For example, you can charge your iPhone in no time with this battery pack. The weight is good too considering it holds 12000mAh. I like the on/off button, it is convenient to switch USB devices on or off without unplugging. The charger lights are very small and built into the button - I like this so I don't have distracting flashing lights go off (e.g. at night). (Posted on 1/4/13)
Plenty of power for the business traveler. Review by Chris

The iCarrier is the first NEW Trent product that I have purchase and have thus far been very pleased with it. To date, I have not found anything wrong with the charger. It performs very well and has plenty of power for multiple charges. It is an ideal device to take along on business trips that sometimes can be taxing on batteries. This is a very nice alternative to carrying multiple batteries for my android phone or trying to find a place to plug in. The only thing that I would possibly modify on this charger the shape, I would prefer that it were a little thinner, realizing that it would need to get longer and wider to maintain the same capacity but that allow it to fit better in my briefcase. That being said I would rate the iCarrier a strong 4.5. (Posted on 1/4/13)
High Capacity in a Small Package Review by Bart
Rating
New Trent's iCarrier 12000mAh battery pack is simple, effective, and POWERFUL. The battery pack takes up very little space in my iPad bag. I carry a number of mobile accessories every time I travel. With each trip I take an iPhone, iPad, bluetooth speaker, bluetooth headset, bluetooth headphones, and charging cables. The problem I run into, is a lack of access to charging locations. With the iCarrier, I can charge my iPhone many times over or charge my iPad, as well as all of my other bluetooth devices. The battery capacity of this product is excellent - especially considering the minimal weight and size. I prefer the matte finish New Trent went with, as fingerprints and scratches are not as noticeable. I appreciate the simplicity of the product in that it provides standard usb outlets. By going with a standard usb socket, the consumer gets to choose what cable or device to use. I previously owned Mophie cases. While their capacity was good, I was stuck with Apple's 30 pin connector. When the case battery was dead, I had to carry around a heavy dead battery. The iCarrier allows me to use mini usb, Apple's legacy 30 pin, and new Lightning connector cables. Honestly, the name iCarrier does not do the product justice. It leads one to believe it is designed strictly for an Apple mobile device. To the contrary, any device that can charge from a standard usb socket will work fine with this device. The two ports are labeled for 1 or 2 amp service. This allows for charging smart phones and tablets on the go. The only negative I have for this product is the indicator LED. While I like the blue color, it is very bright. During daylight hours this is not an issue, but in a dark bedroom or car, it is somewhat annoying. When charging, the unit will blink. I recommend charging the unit out of sight to avoid dealing with this. In my opinion, you will not find a better product for the price. (Posted on 1/4/13)

Overall, I love the device and it delivers on the promise of portable power! However, it would be great if it included additional or different cables when purchasing the device such as the iPad charging cable, a micro and mini USB cable, etc. That said, this device is fantastic for anyone with smart devices or other portable electronics given that batteries are not very long-lasting and reliable always. I like that it came with the wall charger as well. (Posted on 1/3/13)

Overall, this is probably my favorite New Trent product. It’s simple, easy to use, and does exactly what I want it to do. This device is able to charge my iPhone, iPad, or other USB devices multiple times, and still is able to fit all this power in very small product relative to its output. My biggest complaint on this device is based on the charger. This device requires a unique charging cable, and this adds another cable I’m forced to travel with. I would have liked it you could have used a simple micro USB, mini USB, or other device cable to charge this device. Lastly, I do enjoy the option to charge USB devices, even though it drastically slows the charging process. However, it’s more than sufficient for two smartphones.

I would rate this product a 4.5/5, and the only con being the charging cable.

Keeps the battery hog iPad3 running! Review by David

I have an iPad 3 with 64GB and 4G/LTE. I started using my iPad for the day at 8:00am. By Noon the battery was down to 60% so I connected it to my 120D (along with my iPhone, charging both at the same time-also at 60%). My iPhone 5 was fully charged in 45 minutes. I continued to use my iPad 3 with the LTE connected to do moderate email use. I continued this use for 3 hours and my iPad 3 battery was up to 80%. I then used my iPad to play Madden 12 for 2 hours and then watched an HD movie for one hour before the 120D was drained (6 hours of continuous use and charge!) At the time the 120D was drained my iPad with all of that use was back to 60% (amazing for the continued use for 6 hours compared to the standard battery life on my iPad 3 (after 4 hours of moderate email - drained 40%).
Another benefit of the NewTrent device is others of comparable size have only one port powered for the iPad whereas with the 120D it doesn't matter which port is used, they both will charge the iPad (a small detail, but appreciated). I have only one request for improvement - It would be nice if the status indicator remained lit to show the level of battery life remaining in the 120D while using it. (Posted on 12/14/12)
Very good battery pack with massive amount of re-charge room! Review by Carlos

I have long been accustomed to buying multiple battery packs for my phones, but have since cut that cord with the new IMP120D. Now instead of carrying around a few battery packs, which by the way do not hold their charge very well at all (After a a day or two, I would have to spend time charging them all up in the same period of time - wasteful) I carry the IMP120D which has an easy on/of switch, holds its charge fairly well considering it can help you stretch out your usage anywhere. I use it for my tablet and phablet phone and so far so GREAT! It also helps that my newer technology carries their own charge very well so now it seems I could go on long flights or days without charging via a wall jack. Great peace of mind! The IMP120D iCarrier battery charger product is designed to be both functional and easy to use. I have so far been able to charge my devices (Samsung Note 2, ipad Mini, ASUS Transformer Prime, and other android phones) easily and quickly. It maybe slightly bulky, but that’s to be expected of a 12000mah battery. Having two ports is great, because you can charge multiple devices, if you have an arsenal of gadgets.

Pros:
- Highly portable, I am able to charge my devices in the following environment
o Outdoor places, (Coffee shop, library, movies, camping, and etc)
o Inside your vehicle, if you do not have a current car charger
o Office meetings
o Traveling
o At home, where there is no easily available power outlet
o On-the-go (in case you forgotten to charge your battery)
- Two USB charging ports
o Cables included, and also a carrying bag
- Great when you are on the go, and are using your phone to “tether” which adds additional power, and length of time.
- Turns itself “Off” after you unplug a device

Cons:
- Currently the light that illuminates the battery charge is a bit harder to read
- Slippery on slanted surfaces, and some tables

Overall I am happy with my purchase of the IMP120D iCarrier battery charger. At first I did not really know how I would use this product. But as time progressed, I realized that it’s one of those products that you simply cannot live without, and need to carry with you. It offers me peace of mind, that I am able to charge my devices in situations where there is no power outlet easily available. I am assured that I can use my power hungry devices to its f ull extent, without draining my battery all the way down. And if it does drain it all th way down, I have the IMP120D iCarrier battery charger to recharge it back to full power several times. (Posted on 12/10/12)

The two USB ports allow me to charge two devices at once. This device is very powerful and can handle several full charges on my devices so I do not have to recharge the iCarrier every day. A Must Have for the Girl/Guy that's on the go Review by Kenny
Rating
I ordered this external battery charger (IMP120D) from New Trent and have used it for about a month now. What is the first thing I have to say about it? I LOVE IT!!

Here are some highlights that I want to point out right from the box. It holds a capacity of 11000 mAh. That's a whole lot of power. When I first got it out of the box, I had to charge it for maybe about 24 hours. Not really sure, but it was for quite amount of time. But after that, it charged my iPad and iPhone 2 to 3 times over before it needed recharging again. I find that very useful as I am always on the go and when in need, I don't have to go looking for an outlet, just plug my phone into it and let it charge.

As far as being on the go, this little baby is only about a 3.5" square and 1" thick. It fits into the palm of my hand, and not heavy at all. Well, this is my first external battery charger, so, I don't know if there are any out there that's lighter than this.

Love love love the design, it's so sheek and modern. It's all black, with just a thin blue trim around it. The light on it are also blue. None of that orange light going on. It just exudes a cool and modern look to it. The only thing I have to say about the material is that it attract fingerprints. Which on the other hand can easily be wiped off with the sleeve of your shirt or something. If you're not picky about that, then just ignore this point.

It has 2 usb ports, each labeled respectively. I have 2 mobile devices, so it's perfect for me. The package comes with a retractable USB cable. But since I am an Apple user, I don't use it at all, so I have no comment on that. What I do wish it came with is the Apple cords. But I can't blame New Trent about that because I bought it right when Apple changed their basic connector to the new lightning connector so there really was no way that New Trent could have included it. But even so, I don't know if they really can since these cables by Apple are so proprietary and I really don't want a knock off cable.

Now this maybe neither here nor there, but I also have a friend who has this charger, and actually a few of them, and he "daisy-chains" them together..... for what reason, I really don't know. But apparently you can do that. Not sure if it is recommended by New Trent or not.

Back to the aesthetics of this pack, it would be nice if it came in different colors. I understand that this power pack serves more than Apple users, but I think it would be cool if they had an Apple color scheme, like white on white and then with the white cables to a white iPhone would really be cool.

If possible New Trent could design a different finish, one that is not so fingerprint attracting. Also, I think it could be useful if they placed some rubber nubs here and there for grip because the finish is actually quite slippery. Don't want to drop this baby and break it.

And the packaging, this charger comes with a little black pouch. The pouch is really too small. It only really fits the charger, but not the charger and the cables together. If they could make the pouch a little larger, that would be great. And also, the material of the pouch which is black has a lot of lint that sticks on to your white shirt and stuff. You could change the pouch material.

I know, so far I've gone on about the aesthetics of it all, because from a usability stand point, there is nothing much to say. You plug it into the wall, charge it up, and you're good to go on the road, on the metro, walking to work etc..... It's always in my messenger bag. I usually charge my devices up at night, then I walk to the metro, go to work, and by quitting time, my phone is about 30% left and I just plug it into this portable charger. And by the time I get to the metro, take the metro and then walk home, I have a fully charged phone again for the evening. It just works and it works great. The charging speed is good for me, because I really don't have any other charger to compare with. Of course it doesn't charge as fast as if I were to plug it straight into the wall, but it is not slow like molasses either.

Nice job New Trent. (Posted on 12/6/12)
A must have for a connected Road Warrior Review by FredMertz

I travel quite a bit for work and I never leave home without an Ipad, my personal phone (Droid Razr) and my work phone (Blackberry Curve). My typical trip starts early in the morning and I don't usually get to my hotel until a full day is done. A phone running 4G and a Blackberry running Bloomberg do not last the full day. So I keep one of these guys in my bag and I am never without power. This larger size battery is a must if you have an Ipad as well, but you could get the lighter IMP52D if you only need to charge cellphones.

There are comparable models made by other companies, but none have the quality finish of this product (and most also come with blinding LED lights, which can be a pain in a dark hotel room).

A must have for the Road Warrior. (Posted on 12/6/12)
Amazing Product at a Great Price! Review by Michael

I have seen people with mobile power packs in the past and being an Android user, battery life has been a problem for me. This Black Friday I was on the hunt to see if I could find a product that could not only charge my phone but my tablet and be able to do it more than one time. If you are looking for something similar, THIS IS THE PRODUCT YOU WANT!

I currently carry with me a Nexus 7, a Galaxy Nexus, and an iPad mini when my wife lets me steal it. I have always had phone battery issues because I often use my phone as a mobile hot spot for my devices. In the past I have carried extra batteries with me but that meant having to manage and make sure which ones were charged or not, and I finally gave up that whole idea with the Trent IMP120D.

Pros:
-Can charge two devices at once!
-Has a huge 12000MAH battery
-Small footprint (I was scared this thing would be huge but it easily fits in one hand and I have lost it in my back pack a couple of times because of how small it is!)
-Easy indicator letting you know how much charge it has left

Cons:
-This is more of a personal bias, but I did not like how you had to push the power button to start charging your devices. (I have seen other battery packs that just plug in and start charging)
-If you are looking for something to fit in your pocket with your phone, then this is not for you.

Overall this is the device for me. If you are looking for a huge mobile power supply for your phone or tablet or both and don't want to worry about battery life again, pick this guys up! This was money well spent! (Posted on 12/5/12)

I purchased this charger due to the fact that my one year old cell phone battery lasts less than one shift and being a nurse I do not have easy access to an outlet but need to keep my phone charged for family. I am very impressed with this Trent external battery charger. Protected in the carrying bag, I keep it with me in my purse at all times. I rely on it each time I am on a 12 hour shift and even after 7-9 uses I have not had to recharge the unit! The indicator light tells me approximately how much power is left, it is light enough and compact enough to carry around, it has a very sleek design, and does exactly as promised. I pull it out at work and have many people ask me about it and ask where they too could get one! (Posted on 12/4/12)

Big battery in a solid package. Review by Simon

This thing is amazing, in short - but it depends on another factor, do you mind the bulkiness?

Everything about this feels solid and sturdily built, it has no creaks, charges fairly fast for such a large battery and well its such a large capacity in a small package at a great price, what's not to love?

Great point, well only one thing, for me.. as an external battery I guess it should be expected that you have to be able to take it with you, and this does apply here but this thing seems to be more designed towards a take it with you on a trip in your bag or backpack ideal versus the in case of emergency scenario where you may need "some" extra juice for your phone rather than a lot for many gadgets.

This is the powerhouse of external batteries, don't expect to bring it in a pocket due to its depth - look at the other products if you want that, this is a one-stop shop for your multi-USB device toting geek that has phones, mp3 players, and tablets lying around all-at-once that may need charging, WHILE on the fly. Great Product to charge on the go Review by JeremyS

So far I love using this charger. I have a Galaxy Nexus that is constantly dying, sometimes in spots where I do not have access to a charger. I so far have used this to charge my phone at least 2-3 times to full battery. I have been able to charge my phone 5-6 times all the way up on a single charge of the pack. This is of course not charging anything but my phone. You are able to charge your PS VITA by using the included Samsung Galaxy Tab cable you just need to hook it up to the Vita USB cable. Overall this is a great product. I have two complains with it however. The weight of this thing is really heavy. I realize that there is a huge battery in here but weight may put some people off from it. Also the included carrying case is a little small. I am able to put all of my cables in there that came with the unit, however, it is a tight fit.

Pros: Able to charge two items at once
LED indicator to let you know the level of your charge
Included Micro USB cable, Samsung Galaxy Tab Cable, and included carrying case

Cons: Weight - this thing is HEAVY
The carrying case is nice but not large enough to carry all the included cables comfortably. The only one I would really care about carrying is the Samsung Galaxy Tab cable as I generally have a micro-usb cable with me at all times.

Overall I would recommend this charger for people that need to charge their devices on the go. (Posted on 11/29/12)

I use this iCarrier when I travel-inside and outside the states.

It is great to be able to carry it w/ me to charge my iPhone and iPad when needed. It is not too bulky (very decent bulk/weight for the performance). I do not have to worry about carrying an outlet adapter with me and I get full charges to both my iPad and iPhone at the same time.

A great safety backup battery to have for any reason. (Posted on 11/29/12)
New Trent IMP120D, simply the best external battery for tables and smart phones Review by UsmanK
Rating
This is one amazing product, i have had absolutely no issues with this external battery pack. It just keeps going on and on.
I can happily watch movies or videos without having to worry that my iPad will run out of charge.

The IMP120D takes about 8 hours to get to full charge and i can easily keep it with me when i travel and just connect a cable to the external battery pack and charge my iPad or iPhone whereever i am. I have not seen a comparable product in the market from other vendors yet.

One think that i would suggest to the manufacturer, is that if they can build-in the adapter on the external batter pack itself, instead of adding a separate adapter that sure would be awesome. I wont need to worry about carrying or forgetting to take the adapter with me :)

But this is a 5 start product for me. Good job new Trent team. (Posted on 11/27/12)
Another Rock Solid Battery Review by Q J

This is the third New-Trent battery I have owned. I have had good results from all three of them. I like this new unit with two USB ports and one having the power to charge my iPad. I travel frequently and have grown to rely on this battery pack to provide power when its late in the day and I am headed home. The iPhone is about dead and it seems I can never snag an AC outlet in the airport that I depart from. No worries with this battery pack, I can settle in and charge my iPhone and power up my iPad at the same time while waiting for my flight. I have had several people see it and ask about it. I have tried a couple of other brands external batteries and was disappointed in their capacity and their performance. I would stick with New Trent. When my wife and I both travel, it would be nice if we could both charge our iPads - maybe that will be the next generation. (Posted on 11/23/12)

I purchased the iCarrier IMP120D to use for my upcoming cruise vacation. Having purchased a new Mini Ipad, I felt that I needed to be able to use a charger on the go for it. While this product can recharge almost everything, I can also use it for my Ipod touch and my Iphone 4.

I started using the product and I am so pleased with it. I charged 2 Ipod Touches and my Iphone4 twice and it still has enough juice even if I use it again without having it recharged.

Overall, it's a good product and will recommend it to anyone wanting a portable charger. (Posted on 11/21/12)
NewTrent iCarrier Review by LH

The product was clean and elegant and very attractive to look at and for the functionality the product was as advertised. It easily recharge both my iPhone 5s and/or iPad mini depending on what I required at the time. The product has a few small deficiencies that should not be considered direct drawbacks but apart of the battery game. Those being that device as others have suggested is its a bit big and bulky but being in the 12000mah sector its to be noted that other similar products are just as big. I would like to have had the product have 3-4 usb slots instead of the two but its not truly necessary as the product could only actually charge no more then two iPads at time due to the power capacity. Also as noted the product is all external detachable cables which is nice but at the same time has its drawbacks of being easily lost and lost in the shuffle as you travel. I think a more elegant power cord would have been nice as well... but these are small design issues that do not take away from the products functionality which is the most important factor for me... I use this while camping and traveling. One of my
hobbies is Geocaching (geocaching.com) and I use my iPhone 4 with the Geocaching
app, the app uses GPS positioning and can really drain a battery. This
device is a great addition to my backpack, it allows me to keep my phone charged
without the need to go back to my camper or truck for recharging. I
recently took a business trip, I flew on a plane that did not offer electrical
connections and I wanted to watch a movie on my iPad. The iPad battery was
already low when I pulled it out, but no problem, I plugged into the iCarrier
and was able to watch the entire movie uninterrupted.
On my return trip I had a layover and got a good laugh at all
the people huddled around the electrical outlets at the airport, all trying to
charge their devices. Anyone that travels needs an
iCarrier!

Rubber Bands Keep "The Beast" From Sliding Off the Table Review by Daddy H
Rating
I have seen several reviewers ask for a non skid surface. When I purchased my entry level Mac Book a couple of years ago I ran across a reviewer who suggested putting several rubber bands around the power adaptor (close to the size of the iCarrier Heavy) to keep it from sliding off the table. It works! Try if with the Big Boy. I think that you'll find that they hold it firmly in place. It ain't purdy but it works!

PS: I love this unit! I want the maximum portable charge available for convenience and in case of an emergency (such as SS Sandy). I haven't seen another unit with more capacity. It turns itself off after charging my iPhone 5 from anywhere between 5% - 20% back up to 95% (why doesn't it charge to 100%?). I saw a review describing this as normal. Is this how it is supposed to work?

The only reason that it didn't give a 5 Star Rating is the 3 LED display vs a more precise 5 LED or digital "Juice Remaining" monitor. I'd pay extra for that feature. upgrade.

Nice product during blackouts Review by Sandra

I purchased this product during the height of hurricaine Sandy for use in future storms. Since my area seems to get frequent blackouts, I was looking for something to use to keep my gadgets charged. I used it to charge my iPhone4S and it was quick, but not as quick for the iPad. I learned that I should uses output2 for the iPad, but there should be some instructions about the difference included in the package. Unfortunately my output 2 port isn't working but I am in contact with customer service to obtain a replacement. (Posted on 11/10/12)

Product shipped is as noted. The only thing I had a gripe about was what the output voltages on output 1 and output 2. So I sent an email to their support team and they addressed my questions in a timely manner. I've also noticed that output 2 does not charge my blackberry work phone but charges on output 1 but not a big deal.

Now onto the good stuff. This charger lasts a long time! I didn't have to charge the batery pack for a week! Used it while I was at work and while out of town and had no issues charging. It charges my iphone 5 pretty fast.

I've tested other chargers such as the "http://www.energizerpowerpacks.com/us/products/ap1201/" and it was just a piece of junk. It took a while to charge and it didn't even do a full charge on a discharged iphone.

Maybe a add-on flash light would be nice on this charger but not necessary. I recommend this product! (Posted on 11/6/12)
IMP120D - Excellent! Review by James
Rating
This has an ON/OFF button requiring a three second press to turn on or off, which is a huge improvement over the previous model, as it totally eliminates any inadvertent activation of the charger. The provided AC – USB charger is also excellent. The dual USB charging ports are great to have when charging multiple devices. The capacity is fantastic, as I was able to charge a Droid 2, iPhone 5, and an iPod touch (4 th ) two times each, and still have charge left over.

The included case works well, and comes in handy when traveling. I do a lot of hiking and camping, and this device allows me to recharge my phone when I'm in the woods. The overall weight of the device is also excellent and the size makes it easy to fit into a daypack or overnight backpack.

Finally, I lost power for two days in a recent storm that hit the East coast. This device was a must have, as I was able to have extended use of my smartphones. The IMP120D is a critical item that I keep on hand and within easy reach. If you don't have one, you should get one. My iPhone 5 has a battery that can't be removed, so the IMP120D was the only way I could recharge it. (Posted on 11/3/12)

I purchased this product before a family trip. My cellphone's battery (Droid Razr) doesn't last very long so I didn't want to be caught with a dead phone. This product worked perfectly. I was able to charge both my wife (iPhone) and my cellphones without a problem. Having 2 USB ports made charging both phones without any problems. Overall the New Trent IMP120D couldn't be any easier to use. The directions are very easy to understand and straight forward. I find myself taking it with me anywhere that I want to make sure I have a charged phone (doctor appointments, out with friends....). I also have used it to charge my iPad and phone at the same time and it doesn’t have a problem. So if you have a phone at doesn’t have a long life battery or are just away from a charger a lot with is the product for you. (Posted on 11/1/12)

I uses my wifi only iPad tethered to my Palm Pixi plus cell phone for internet access when I am on the road. Since the Palm has a very small battery, I need to have an external battery to power the tethering for a whole day. After searching the Amazon and reading all the reviews, I purchased the IMP120D iCarrier.

I have been using the IMP120D for about three months now. It performed very well without a glitch. The capacity of this 12000 mAh battery pack is outstanding. It keeps charging the Palm for the whole day and still have plenty of charges left. I also use it to charge my ipad 3. The charging speed is pretty similar to that using the Apple wall charger when the iPad is in use. It charges 15% in 1 hour when iPad is not in use.

The building quality is good, with a ten month warranty. The product also came with a nice carrying pouch as a surprise.

There are two minor things that I would like to see improvements in future products:
(1) There are only three charge level indicators on the device, high, medium and low. I would like to see a little bit more details than the full, 2/3 and 1/3 charge level. A five level indicator should be sufficient.

(2) The blue LED lights are bright in the dark, a minor annoyance. But since charging the IMP120D doesn't generate much heat, I just put it in the pouch when charging it at night.

I am satisfied with the purchase. A highly recommended product for anyone who need a backup battery to charge the electronics via USB. (Posted on 10/29/12)
Great design, Impressive Capacity. Keeps my phone and iPad fully charged! Review by Ben

Having recently purchased a New Trent battery case for my iPhone, I was excited to order the Mobile Battery Pack to provide mobile charging for my iPad and other devices. I travel extensively and am online for a living, and have often found myself watching batteries drain way to quickly. The Mobile Battery Pack didn't disappoint. It looks and feels very well built - solid feel and great finish. Rounded corners are a nice touch to stop the pack catching in pockets or bags. Ability for the Battery Pack to charge two devices simultaneously is a huge bonus. Performance wise, I was able to get full recharges on both my iPad and phone and still have power left in the unit. Saved the day at a recent conference where no power outlets were available and, while others were scrambling to conserve power, I was able to keep my devices running uninterrupted all day and even help give a fellow attendee a power boost on their phone too. Very happy and would totally recommend this to others. Just be aware, to get the most from the power pack it works best to let it recharge over night - it will take a few hours to get maximum charge, but totally worth it. (Posted on 10/27/12)

This is possibly the battery pack to end all battery packs. An extra 8 hours on the new iPad is a very impressive feat and I have to say I am almost completely satisfied with decision to go big and get the iCarrier. Ready for Winter/Hurricanes/Travel! Review by 1stBuy

This iCarrier is an easy 5 stars. It's high ratings are well justified.

Pros: Plenty of them, I'll list a few obvious ones.
- Extremely easy to use (One-button operation, this is how devices should be made!)
- Dual Ports (Trent does this best!)
- Sleek matte finish, Professional appearance (This is a big reason why I keep buying New Trent stuff)
- Durable (While it looks great, it is also very sturdy.)
- Very accurate & consistent charging (Charging is spot-on as advertised, and in my opinion, even better than what they claimed.)

Cons: Not very many. Truth is, it's the best portable charging device out there at this point.
- Requires use of external wall charger. (I was spoiled by the New Trent iTorch only requiring a USB cable! I do understand that a wall charger is safer though and protects the device over the course of its life.)
- More backpack friendly, than "pocket friendly" (Be sure to wear a belt if you're walking around with it in your pants! :-)
- Slippery (Would be nice if it had sponge pads or "legs" on one side to give it some grip when on a table.)

My Review:

I bought the iCarrier for my iPad 3 a few weeks after picking up the iTorch for my iPhone 5. I realized I would need something with more power to charge my iPad 3, as well as my iPhone while traveling.

Even when not traveling, I wanted something which could charge more devices at once, and also serve as a "surge" protector during storms/winter season. Rather than sit here next week when Hurricane Sandy comes by, I'll be ready to put my iCarrier to work! I can charge up an iPhone between 5-6 times before I sit there twiddling my thumbs in the dark not knowing what to do.

That being said I've tested out the iCarrier with both my iPhone 5 and iPad 3.

Test 1: iPhone 5

On the iCarrier you will see 2 outputs. Output 1 is meant for the phones and iPods while the Output 2 is meant for the iPad. Being impatient, I decided to just do an "off-label" experiment and use my iPhone 5 and plugged it into Output 2. Surely enough the iPhone 5 actually charged faster than a regular wall charger. It charged from 0% to 100% in 1.5 hours. The phone DID NOT heat up, and neither did my iCarrier.

Test 2: iPad 3

Now, although the iPad 3's battery is somewhere around 11,000 mAh, and the iCarrier is around 12,000 mAh - I knew that with any charging device there would be a slight bit of `wasting' of power. This was also indicated by Trent as they expected the iPad 3 to charge up to 80%. I would say this is accurate. Mine charged up to 77%...I believe the ~3% difference was because I had the device on (wasn't using it) and Wi-Fi was on the entire time. Considering this, I am very impressed with its charging capability. I did note that the end part which was plugged into the iCarrier of the Apple USB cable did warm up as did the iCarrier when charging my iPad 3. It was not extensive enough to cause worry but it was warmer than normal, in my opinion.

Suggestions/Improvements:

1. Decrease weight and possibly change shape to a more ergonomic design. - This is with all technology improvements. New Trent is way ahead of the game, and to stay ahead of the game I am sure they will improve on this as technology as a whole improves across the board. Once again, I was spoiled by the iTorch's ergonomic design, the iCarrier is more of a 'good looking charging brick'.

2. Digital display for battery remaining, and during re-charging - It'd be nice to know how much battery is left with more accuracy. This might increase the cost, so maybe in a more "premium" model.

3. Foam/rubber pads for one side. To prevent it from slipping off a table, the velvet carrying bag isn't really necessary.

4. Auto-Shut Off both when charging devices and when re-charging itself (This may already be there, I'm not sure...I will Update my review if I realize this feature is on it. I forgot to check this earlier.)

5. Built-in Charging Prongs - For those dire moments when you need to get a charge-in but can't carry the wall charger on you.

In summary: If you own a tablet, buy it. If you have multiple iPhones or Android phones at home, buy it. Expecting any Travel/Hurricans/Snow Storms/Power Outages...buy it. (Posted on 10/26/12)
Great, powerful pack! Review by Patricia

I use the iCarrier to charge my iPad and my Samsung Galaxy S3. I recently went on a roadtrip and instead of buying a car charger (I was using a rental car and never really drive), I opted to get this bad boy. It charges both my devices simultaneously and is super fast.

Pros:
- Good look with the matte black and bright blue edges
- Sturdy design
- Nice little velvet pouch to hold all the cables and accessories
- BIG pack, so last very long and charges devices for days without needing a recharge

Cons:
- Quite hefty. I'm in NYC and it's a walking city so I don't want to carry something so heavy around every day to charge my phone. For roadtrips or traveling, it's perfect. If you're going to be using your battery pack to charge a dying phone at the end of every day, I would suggest something smaller that can fit in your jeans pocket. You will definitely need a jacket with big pockets or a bag in order to carry this bad boy around.
- Wish the output cables were attached internally and tucked in the device (like the IMP71T). The fact that all the cables that came with it are loose and short makes me scared I'll lose them. Obviously, I'll just leave the ones I need attached and in the included pouch to prevent that.

Overall, great device for anyone who is always on the go and carries around multiple gadgets that are battery drainers. (Posted on 10/26/12)

Its a great looking device, its small, even when using the product while charging other phones or its self it does not get hot like most devices. Its also great how it comes with a little bag that you can put the device. In the little bag I can fit up too two cords which is good this way you always have easy access to them. Great power relative to size/weight Review by Koz
Rating
I purchased this product because my cell phone battery (Samsung Galaxy S2) is terrible. Rather than buy a bunch of batteries and worry about which one is charged or having them become useless with a new phone, I picked up this thinking it will last me longer. I keep the IMP120D in my bag and plug my phone during meetings, on airplanes, and sometimes in the car if I've forgotten my car adapter. The size and weight of the device is still reasonable even though this is the biggest model. On a recent hiking trip I was able to keep this in my camera case and recharge my phone, allowing us to use the phone for music and pictures throughout the day.

As for the specifics of the device, I get multiple charges from it before having to recharge the IMP120D. I can't really say exactly how many phone charges I'm getting per device because I'm not usually doing a 0-100% type charge. The IMP120D charged up in a few hours from zero and the three indicator lights give you an idea of how much charge is left. It's a fairly solid piece and feels well built. I dropped it once from about waist height onto carpet and there was no problem. I have not noticed the device getting significantly warmer when in use. The pack is about as big as my fist and weighs a litle more than a grapefruit (I just checked it, I know that's subjective).

One disappointment I had was that I was hoping it would charge my ASUS Transformer TF300T tablet. The ASUS has a bigger power adapter that comes with it (I'm not an electrician, but I'm assuming it needs more amps or volts or whatever). Anyway, the IMP120D will charge it, but very slowly and the charge icon doesn't appear in the tablet. If I have a phone plugged in, then the charging light on the IMP120D comes on letting me know it's fueling my phone. Tablet only = no indicator light. I was hoping since the description notes that it charges iPads that it would charge my tablet quickly, but that was more my assumption, I guess. If it would charge my tablet at a faster rate, this would be a 5 star review. To be fair, maybe that's more an ASUS problem than a New Trent problem, but just FYI.

As for price value, for me, it was about being able to go a long time without having to recharge the pack and getting plenty of use out of it. I'd rather pay a little more and get the added juice. This allows me to charge my phone and my wife's, and if needed my tablet (albeit, slowly). If you're a solo user with one device, you might give one of the smaller models a look because it might achieve what you need for less cost and less size/weight.

Can't wait for the power to go out! Review by The Taylor's

IMP120D – Mobile Power Pack

Last year, we we’re without power for 51 hours. When our phones died we didn’t have anything to keep in contact so, when we saw the iCarrier we decided to get it as a back-up for road trips or, power outage/emergencies when we need our phones and tablet. Great product, compact and easy to use once you figure things out, charges 2 at a time. Includes a carry pouch, AC charger and 2 charging cables (USB & micro USB).

The instructions are vague regarding what to look for to know when the mobile pack was fully charged but we figured it out after a couple days. There are 3 blue indicator lights. When charged to 100%, all 3 indicators light up. As it loses charge the lights go down from High to Med to Low. The iCarrier does keep its charge for several hours but the only way we could tell how much charge it had left was by how far it charged our phones! When the iCarrier level is even with the charge on the phone it shuts off. In our case, it charged the phone to 67% telling us the pack was at 67%. Adding more indicator lights or having a display showing the remaining power would be more helpful.

This is a slow charging battery…took 3+ hours to charge both of our phones together from 17% to 100% so be prepared. There are two different output ports on the iCarrier, 1amp & 2amp. Again, this wasn’t clear in the instructions however it is listed on the box and the back of the instruction pamphlet. For someone like me who has no knowledge of batteries it didn’t really mean anything to me until it was explained. Generally 1amp is for smartphones and smaller devices that use a slower charge rate to compliment the size of the battery preventing from overheat. 2amp is for tablets or larger devices and provides a faster charge rate for higher capacity battery. You can still use the 2amp port for your phone. Most electronic devices have a built-in safety to prevent overcharging but can still overheat.

This charger will be great if we lose power (as long as it’s fully charged), for kids when they are on the bus, commuting and when we go camping. Overall this is an awesome investment for anyone wanting to be prepared for power outages and/or emergencies!

thing i can say about this device is i wish it had a non slip surface added
to it. It has that feeling it could slip out of your hand but it feels
durable enough to survive a fall. I recommend this external battery for

Large capacity & Good design, Review by Sam

After dealing with buying replacement batteries for every device that my family owns except for the Apple products, I said enough with all the different chargers and batteries that are laying around in my home. I brought this and the IMP71T when they ran the deal. My family have 4 android phones and 3 tablets. The tablets generally keep a charge long enough that I don't need to worry about having to charge them. But I need my two phones to run for a day so I can at least use it when I need it. I have been able to do that using replacement batteries but it can be a pain to replace the battery and start up the phone sometimes. Instance like when I'm going somewhere and use my phone as a GPS, I eat through two to three batteries easily by the end of the trip. This will come in handy.

As for the product itself,

Likes:
-pleasing design with no compromise in functionality
-fast charging
-capacity - each charge will keep me running for a week

Dislikes:
-would not charge my TF700 without turning it off. I blame it more on Asus making that proprietary plug as I have trouble finding anything that supports the Transformer fully without sacrificing looks. (Posted on 10/25/12)

Pros: The charger feels very solid. It has two USB ports and one 2A USB port for tablets and the second 1A USB port for other devices like phones. It took me days to drain this battery with my iPhone 4. The battery also did a very good job charging my tablet.

Cons: It is a bit heavy. I do not like the blue on the unit. I would much prefer an all black variant of this charger. Trent devices still do not include an iPhone power cable because of license issues.

Other thoughts: I think I'm going to stick with the iTorch to charge my phone because of it's smaller size and lighter weight. If I were to go on camping for a few days, then I would definitely bring my iCarrier to charge my HP Touch Pad and iPhone,

I travel quite a bit for work and many times in places where I dont have access to a power source or on the go and cant sit and wait for my device(s) to charge up. I found out that I needed this when I was on the go and needed to charge my iphone 5 and ipad2 because they only had 5% battery left. I would recommend this to anyone that has multiple devices and depends on them for business or life activities (99% of the population that has a cell phone). Only improvement I would like to see is if the charge time of the actual iCarrier was quicker (we live in a microwave world and want it now) seriously it does take a few hours to charge, but the flip side is the iCarrier has a huge back up for all devices. Great buy and worth it if you depend on your mobile devices for life. (Posted on 10/24/12)
Beyond Expectations! Review by Jacob

To get an idea of how well this would perform, I charged it ONCE, and then used only this product to charge my cellphone. It powered my Samsung galaxy S3 for over 6 days before it ran out of juice. I use my cellphone allot, and it always has a dead battery by the end of the day. I was very satisfied with this product, and will put it in my suitcase whenever I travel. The two USB ports are nice, especially if you have multiple devices (I could charge my cellphone and portable speakers at the same time!). Also, it charges devices MUCH faster then a USB port on a computer, and even faster than my wall-charger! It comes with a neat little carrying bag which has enough extra room for a couple short adapter cables (USB->USB and USB->MHL(Galaxy S3) are included with the charger!).

-Charges FAST.

-Neat carrying bag, with a little extra room for a short charging cable.

-Long lasting. Used only this to charge my cellphone for 6 days.

-Attractive look.

-2 USB ports (This doesn't seem important until you actually want to charge 2 things at once, then you realize how useful it is)

Cons: None whatsoever (Posted on 10/24/12)

Pros:
Awesome size
Great power source
AC power adapter

Cons:
No iPhone 5 connector

Great product that keep my two iPhone fully charged during a 4-day desert camping trip Review by Phillip
Rating
I purchased the iCarrier before I set out on a four day camping trip to the Texas desert. I brought along an iPhone 4s and an iPhone 5, which I used heavily for taking photos and videos. The iCarrier worked perfectly and keep both of my devices charged for the entire trip. The 2A port was a nice feature that allowed for faster charging, which I took advantage of between hikes. I had no issues with the iCarrier overheating, even while charging two devices in the Texas desert heat. I highly recommend this device when taking extended trips that will leave you without a power source to charge your electronic devices. (Posted on 10/23/12)

Great overall product with a very compact design Review by Jon
Rating
If you like the design of the Apple's products, you won't be disappointed with the design of New Trent's IMP120D. (If only it came in white.) It has rounded corners, a smooth feel, and the blue LEDs make it very comfortable to handle. The device packs a ton of power and can fit in your pocket to charge "on the go".

Pros:
(1) 500 charge cycles. 1 cycle lasts 1+ weeks for charging an iPhone 4S, so the IMP120D should easily last 10 years.
(2) No need to worry about finding wall outlets during the week.
(3) Relatively small - fits in pocket.
(4) Doesn't get noticeably hot, even during use.
(5) Two output options are provided for 1.0A (mobile phone) or 2.1A (tablet) use.
(6) Nice looking design.
(7) A charging cord can be wrapped around the device to avoid getting tangled.
(8) Comes with cables and a little carrying bag.

Cons:
(1) It's easy to forget which output provides what. (A picture of a phone / tablet, or the Amp number rating itself could have been printed by the ports to make it easier. "Output 1" and "Output 2" don't mean anything.) (Posted on 10/20/12)
iCarrier IMP120D: Lasting convenience and peace of mind. Review by Jeremy
Rating
In a compact (for its capacity) design, the IMP120D provides strong output in the form of separate but simultaneously usable 2.1A and 1A USB connections.

Being a fairly constant and heavy user of portable electronics (2 tablets, 2 smartphones, wifi hotspot), I'd suffered far too long from the problems associated with constantly having to to constantly find a place and enough time to keep them recharged. We have enough stress in our lives, and when a product comes along that can effectively and efficiently eliminate some of that stress, it is praiseworthy. At 12,000mAH, this power pack doesn't just provide this convenience, but peace of mind that even in extended absence of availalbe charging spots (camping/power outage/airport-nightmare/etc) you will have a large enough reserve of power to keep you connected.

In short, New Trent has built a high quality, high performance product that meets a real need. If you're looking to further empower your electronics, you will not be disappointed with the iCarrier.

You will not find a Better Quality or Better Designed Product than "NewTrent". I'm Sold Review by Capt. NOLA

Being an airline pilot I do extensive research before purchasing anything. I looked at the specifications and read many reviews while researching external batteries, and your product was at the top of my list. Even though I have never heard of "NewTrent",  I went with my gut feel and I've been exceptionally pleased and have already recommended your products to other Crew members. I noticed people all day long in airports competing for AC outlets to charge their electronic devices. I can charge my iPhone for a week and never use up the battery Storage capacity in my "NewTrent" external battery. I can also run my iPad for days and never worry about looking for an A/C outlet. It's really convenient to charge both my iPhone and iPad at the same time. (Posted on 10/19/12)
The solution to your lack of lightning cables Review by Jason
Rating
I'm always using my mobile devices on the go, and especially with my new iPhone 5 tethering LTE to them - it's battery life is killing. The New Trent IMP120D fits perfectly everywhere I take it. Not having multiple lightning connectors for my iphone is really hurting, but with this external battery pack I don't think I'll ever worry about stocking up on them. Especially when I'm using my iphone to tether another device - having two USB ports to charge simultaneously is incredibly useful. Naturally the 12000mAh power is more than enough. This battery gets a 5 star vote for its style too - the matte finish is beautiful, and thankfully they include a protective bag to keep it in, I want to keep this thing forever! (Posted on 10/16/12)
Very impressed by this product Review by Steve
Rating
Did some shopping around for batteries before deciding on this one based upon reviews. It has not disappointed. Took somewhere between 4-6 hours (I wasn't really paying attention) to fully charge the battery from completely discharged.

From a full battery I managed to fully charge an iPad 2 from about 15% and an iPhone 5 from about 10% both to full. After doing that, the battery life indicator was still showing one light on it so I plugged in my old iPhone 4 that was completely dead and it fully charged that before dying.

I will take this with me whenever I travel as the backup power supply for my mobile devices! (Posted on 10/15/12)

Upon receiving my IMP120D I new I would be taking this product with me where ever I went, whether it'd be school or any sort of trip where I new i'd be away a wall charger for some time. This is the product i've been waiting for because I'm both an Iphone and Droid user so I need 2 usb ports to charge both my phones at the same time instead of switching off usb ports with other external 1usb batteries. This battery is one of the best I've seen. Just the 12000mAh capacity and what makes it stand out. Which other external battery would be able to charge your iphone 6 times fully from 0 to 100% without needing to be recharged. (Posted on 10/13/12)
This takes the place of 2 solar batteries twice this things size! Review by Shannon
Rating
I have an iPhone 4s, a New iPad, a couple of older Zune's, and I have gone 36 hours without needing to charge from a wall socket. I do put Apple product on minimum screen brightness while on the plane and airplane mode, so that helps. But I can watch multiple movies, training videos, and read books the whole time hopping from airport to airport. The weight is not bad, nor size. My only wish is that I could charge it with a USB cable. The charging brick is fine when I check luggage, but a little annoying when I am only bringing my laptop case. I understand why, 2 amps is necessary for a charge, while USB 1.0 and 2.0 will typically charge at 500mA. So charging this from a USB port could take days... (I am not an electronics wizard, so don't use me as an authority on this) I want to see if I truly get the longevity out of this, the external construction on it seems good and the specs seem to be real world, so I would think the internal components are higher quality as well. I have had a few other batteries. A Zune 30 battery from Belkin, a couple solar batteries, and I have been kind of disappointed out of the box on those. This has yet to disappoint. Essential Gear. Period. Review by Don
Rating
After having my smartphone die in the middle of the day for the zillionth time, I finally decided to do something about it. Because I can't always find a power outlet, simply traveling with a charger was out of the question... I've been a computer engineer since the 70's, so I was looking for a solid product to fix my woes. After doing a lot of research, I narrowed down the potential solutions to this product. The reviews were good so I ordered the largest capacity one to give it a try. Nice buy! It arrived quickly and the packaging was very high quality, despite the very reasonable price of the product.

I was a little concerned because I had read that I would need an adapter to charge my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, but nope, NewTrent put one in the box. Two thumbs up for that! I read a suggestion that I should fully discharge the battery BEFORE initially charging it so I did. Well that took quite a while - it seems that the factory charge was sufficient to charge my Samsung smart phone and my wife's Iphone 4s and her IPad 2 a few times. Finally I got it to run out of juice. I plugged it into the included charger all night and set it aside to use later as needed. Well, little did I know that I would need it in a big way the very next night when the power went out to my house (a very infrequent occurrence in So. Cal). The power was off for hours, but my wife and were able to use her iPad 2, my tablet and my phone for lighting (using a cool little app that lights the camera flash) for hours. When the power finally came back on, the battery had only discharged 1/3 or so. Way cool.

I have now integrated this device into my daily routine and bring it along with me when I travel. It has more than paid for itself on a few occasions and I can definitely see myself picking up another "just in case".

The battery is attractive, about 4 inches square and not heavy enough to mention. I would not hesitate to take it backpacking where every ounce counts - it's that valuable and that way I can listen to music throughout the hike!

To wrap things up, I am glad I purchased this item and it has definitely solved a couple of big problems for me. Don't bother to look for me in the airport, because I won't be crowding around the electrical outlets! (Posted on 10/11/12)
Don't leave home without this thing Review by Ron

The IMP120D performed admirably on its first outing to the Himalayan mountains. From a full charge when leaving, It recharged my Samsung galaxy S3 about 6 times over the course of 10 days while away from any power source. After recharging the unit, and taking it on the 15 hour plane ride home, it proved a extremely valuable tool to recharge my Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1, no shortage of movies and games on this trip due to dead batteries!
I was concerned that the security folks might have an issues with it as a carry on item, but there were no questions about it at all.

The unit is very reasonably sized at about 3 1/2" square, and only about 1 1/8" thick. The unit has nicely rounded corners, which I find great for backpacking as sharp corners tend to snag and tear. The smooth finish of the housing allowed for easy in and out of the provided carry/storage bag. When I ordered this unit, I was concerned that it might be too heavy for lightweight backpacking, however after only a little use it quickly became a key part of my gear.

The only negative I have found thus far is, It would be nice if the charging adapter had the Newtrent name on it somewhere. I know these are generic, but I have already seen that it would not be difficult to get it mixed up with my other electronic device chargers. The rest of the unit is so nice, it seems cheap not to have it on there.

While I did not need the dual USB ports on this particular trip, I already know that on my next camping trip in November ,I will be also charging my friends devices along with my own. That will be a great help to charge 2 at one time.

Overall I would have to give this unit a 5 out of 5 for quality, fit, finish, and usability, and even higher for handiness. (Posted on 10/10/12)
iCarrier delivers good performance and great value Review by Jim
Rating
I just recently bought the iCarrier. I compared it with several other brands including Mophie. I found that the iCarrier provided the best value/quality ratio and had the features I needed.

Pros:
- The weight is reasonable for the performance it delivers. It's not too heavy to add to my backpack and carry around day to day.
- Great performance and battery life. I can charge my iPhone several times on this. It is great for camping trips where I don't have access to electricity.
- The dual ports with simultaneous charging of an iPad and iPhone is a big bonus.
- The extra USB cables allow me to attach different devices.
- Comes with a charger. Some devices like this don't come with their own charger. They rely on you using one that you already have for your iPad or iPod.

Cons:
- Although the design is sleek, the casing seems less sturdy than competing products by Mophie. The black plastic case picks up a lot of dust.
- It would be nice to have an adapter to allow me to charge the iCarrier with my iPad charger.
- The blue power light is too bright and makes it hard to leave on my nightstand at night. (Posted on 10/10/12)
I wish I bought it sooner Review by Deedee in So Cal

I have struggled over the past several years of owning iPhones with battery life. I always have a charging cord to plug into any available outlet I can find. It's not easy when you're at a football field or Disneyland for the day to just sit somewhere with your phone plugged into a random outlet for a few hours. I have friends who own this same model and told me I should get one for my family. My husband, son and I have iPhone 4 and my daughter in law has a Nexus. This model can fully charge each of our phones during the day. I actually had to charge my phone twice on Saturday and the IMP120D still has battery power left to charge! I don't know how I lived without it for so long! The great thing about this unit is it turns itself off when it has finished charging my iPhone! No wasting the units battery life here!

There are a few things about this model that I don't particularly care for. First is the weight. It's pretty heavy for a small unit. It feels like I have a rock in my purse! The second thing is the length of time it takes to charge the unit for use. It takes 10 hours to charge it when it is completely dead.

Now, would I not buy THIS unit if I knew those 2 things before I bought it? No. It's not so heavy that I can't handle it. If you plan ahead and watch your read out of the power button, you have a pretty good idea if you should charge the unit again before you head out for the day.

If you're thinking about purchasing an external battery pack for your phone or iPad, I definitely recommend this unit! (Posted on 10/8/12)
Travel or Commute, bring it with you Review by Jack

I recently purchased a iCarrier and have loved the item since then. I carry it with me every day. I use it when traveling for work, and also on my commute into the office to ensure my devices have enough juice to make it through my life. iPhone 5 can now be used as GPS on my long car trips without worrying about draining the power!

I would strongly recommend this product to anyone who have multiple devices and travels at any point in their life.

Pros:
Small
Lightweight
Nice design (not an eye sore)
Comes with cables
Carry Case

Cons:
Indicators on power gauge on the iCarrier is very broad, only 3 lights. It would be nice for 5 lights or more to give you more of a feel for how much power is left.

First Purchase- Impressive Unit for Travelling Review by Carl

This is my first New Trent product that I owned and I must say this it is pretty impressive. Since I am meetings most of the day, I wanted an external battery for my Iphone 5. I am sur ethat moat fo you have heard about the battery issues with the new IOS and mine was no different, therefore, I need a backup portable battery source. I have a Zagg Sparq external battery but it really does not hold its own to the NewTrent IMP 120D Here are my pros and cons:

Pros:
1) Simlilar in physical design to the Sparq. However, love the on/off sitch button. In my opinon a better design feature
2) Charging capacity is REALLY good. Had it the IMP 120D plugged onto my IPhone while he was playing is Basketball game (back to back) and it lasted way longer than expected
3) Also liked the added pouch to store the unit as well

Cons:
1) The extra charging cable that I now have to carry. Wish they can somehow incorporate that into the body
2) Documention on which output to plug in when charging my IPhone. However, NewTrent has the BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE in my opnion. I called to ask what output to plug my Iphone into for charging.
I was amazed that I actually got a person and not a recording. Within two minutes, not only did I get a answer but why I should be using Output 1 versus Output 2.

Overall - the product is impression for charging and size. I am going to try it wih my other devices i.e. IPAD etc... (Posted on 10/4/12)

This charger is the perfect size and very portable. I read the reviews on it before purchasing it and decided that this is the one since I can plug my ipad and smart phone into it at the same time. I even shared its charging power with the guy next to me at the coffee shop.
PROS: Good size and weight proportionate. Easy to use and very portable.
CONS: Would be nice if it had a rubber bottom to keep it from sliding around on unstable surfaces. (Posted on 10/1/12)

I've had this product for about two weeks now and I absolutely love it! It's simple to use and quite powerful. I've charged my iPhone twice now and and the iCarrier is still fully charged. I was very impressed by that. The unit is small enough to fit in my backpack and stays cool to the touch. It even comes in a little cloth bag to protect it. In other reviews people talk about the blue LED lights. I don't have a problem with them and they're not distracting at all. Overall, I give this product an A. It's a great device, especially at a time when we are so dependent on our smartphones and tablets to stay powered! (Posted on 9/29/12)

This is a great product. I use it to charge both my personal and work phones while out in the field away from any other charging/power sources. I also use it to power my mobile wireless router/AP so I can use a wireless internet connection with my wired and wireless devices.

Pros: Good battery life, nice size, colors.
Recommendations: Flat color body or a protective belt clip holder pouch, Bargraph charge indicator, Digital readout of remaining charge at the current discharge rate.

I would recommend this to anyone needing longer talk time, or who use mobile hotspot features on their phones. (Posted on 9/27/12)

I have been using it for almost a week.

Pros - The battery pack 12,00mAh. I am quite impressed with the compact size and sturdy feel in the hand. On my long flights / drives across regions with out a charger point was super handy with my iPad & iPhone especially after my laptop battery drained out. A complete saviour for me on the road.

Cons - I wish the AC pin was in-built making the additional adaptor redundant. Since while traveling, its simply difficult to manage numerous charger and if you are

Unfortunately, the iCruiser had a problem while charging it one time and stopped working. I contacted New Trent and the immediately shipped me a replacement. I ended up with the new iCarrier. Recently bought this New Trent IMP120 12000mAh external battery. I travel a lot for work and needed an external battery for my electronic devices. First and foremost this unit is packed with plenty of power. I am able to better than double the use time on my iPad 2. This gives me more than ample power to get through those times where an outlet just isn't available. More practically, my phone is able to keep up with me (since I now use the iCarrier more for my HTC phone than my iPad). Secondly the unit is compact. I hardly notice the room it takes in my bag. The convenience it provides is well worth the little space it takes or the $$ it cost.

If you are looking for a powerful yet compact and affordable external battery, look no further. Like me, you'll find more uses after you bought it than you intended. (Posted on 9/19/12)
Enough battery power for all my travelling devices Review by Melissa
Rating
I purchased this item to take along a 7 hr flight. This supplied enough charging power for my phone and kindle fire on the plane, with plenty of charge left to power the navigation on a long car ride after, with power left to spare. I charged my phone again with it at the hotel, to see how much longer the charge would last, but I gave in and recharged the battery pack for the next road trip. The size of this battery pack is small considering it's large capacity. It comes with a little black bag and various useful cables.

You can't charge this item with a car charger or USB, hence the 4-star review. This battery pack needs a power outlet. Although many cars now have one of those outlets, my car doesn't, and neither did the rental car. I would also like to be able to charge this pack using a USB solar panel. The solar power Voltaic products did not offer a battery pack of this capacity when I last checked, so I went with this New Trent product to have all the battery power I might ever need on one long road trip, and it was a good purchase. I compared this to other battery packs. 12,000mAh is a lot. If I need more, I may have issues being attached too long :) I use this primarily for geocaching, which eats battery. This will easily get me through an entire day. The ase is rugged enough to where I drop it I'm not worried too much about damage as long as it is a softer landing from not very high. I haven't dropped it yet thought, and don't plan to. However, we all know... it can happen.

Some review state it's a bit pricey, but I'm not sure what other 12,000mAh you can get, with this quality for that price. It all seems to be inline with the upping of capacity, the price goes up. It works very well for my needs, and I cannot ask for more.

I recently purchased this product to take on vacation to charge all my multiple device I can't live with out, but of course I have been. Playing with it prior just to see how well it works. First this product is very compact ... Prefect for traveling. My biggest fear that even though it claims it would charge my products that it wouldn't.... Being a skepting and all I tried it.... I plugged in my new Ipad, the battery was down to less than 10%. It fully charged my IPad. Then I still had enough power to still charge my IPhone and my partners razr max to fully charged on both. The battery for this Device does take about 10 hours to fully charge but overall I can't say enough about this products. Yet another great product from New Trent. (Posted on 9/14/12)

Excellent Source of Back-up Power Review by Jay S. from Thousand Oaks California

The IMP120D is an excellent source of back-up power for long travels and where external power source is very limited and restricted, e.g. airports. This ensures that my phones and tablets are always charged. Contrary to a few comments in Amazon, this model is not heavy and is still very portable. With 12000mAh, this is the most powerful back-up source you can find in the market. The unit is well made, it's sleek-looking, comes with a velvet pouch, wall adapter charger and a coiling cable with USB connector on one end and a changeable connector on another end, either to mini-USB or micro-USB. The dual ports are very convenient in case you want to charge a tablet and a phone at the same time. Efficient delivery from Newtrent. This product is highly recommended for those junkies who are heavy users of electronic devices. 5 stars so far. (Posted on 7/6/12)

I bought this battery to charge my iphone and ipad 3 while traveling. I have used it on 3 trips so far when I landed both iphone and Ipad where at 100%.

Pros
- The overall design is a nice color and very well built.
- Includes adapters for most common mini usb phone and a retractable usb extension cable. Comes with a nice little carrying back to everything together.
- It has 3 lights on top of the power button that let you know how much power you have left.
- I have tested it fully charged with a fully drained ipad 3. It took the battery up to 75% this is very good that will get you about 8 with the internal battery watching movies (this is how I use mine) and 6.5 with the New Trent. So all in all 14.5 hours that is very good for most long flights. I also use my ipad for work too I need it charged when I land. So I can watch a movie while New Trent charges my iPad then the battery on the ipad never goes down and I arive with a 100% charge and ready to go!

I priced other batteries and read allot of reviews before buying this battery. All I can say is you will not be let down with this purchase. I recommend any one that needs to have their phone, ipad or whatever charged and ready to go this is the produce for you!

FAQ

Q - What is the difference between IMP120D (iCarrier) and the IMP120T

IMP120D:Comes with an ac wall charger and thus will charge faster.

IMP120T:Does not come with ac wall charger, but can be charged through most usb ac wall chargers that come with your cell phones.

Q - Can I use my electronic device while it is charging through the battery?

Our batteries do not support pass-through charging at this time. We do not recommend charging devices with the battery while the battery itself is being charged, as this will severely stress the battery and have a negative impact on the battery cells and the overall lifespan of the battery.

At this time, we would advise all users to charge the batteries first, before using it to charge other devices.

Q - What is the difference between the 1A and 2.1A output charge ports?

a) The 1A is generally for cell/smart phones and other small devices.

b) The 2.1A is generally for larger devices, such as the Apple iPad and other tablets.

Q - What happens if I plugged my phone into the 2.1A port?/Can I charge two phones at once?

While you can plug your phone into the 2.1A output 2 for a quicker charge, we do not recommend doing so, as you are essentially outputing twice the charge into your phone's battery.
The phone battery may generate more heat as a result, which may affect the battery's life over time.
