Lifesaver ... Life simpler!! Review by Richard
Rating
Bought for vacation purposes in the near future but find myself using it all the time. Great Product. I work where I can listen to music on my phone practically all day because i work outside, and with this I don't have to worry about battery life at all. I need my phone to do most operations of my work so this allows me to get the best of both worlds worry free. Great job New Trent!! Now if they can make it smaller and just as powerful, not that it isn't already small ( 2/3 height of iPhone 4S and twice as wide) it would be perfect. Maybe a built in wall plug would also make it the complete accessory. (Posted on 4/29/13)

This product is a MUST HAVE if you are a frequent traveler, especially by plane. I travel a lot for work and this charger allows me to use my phone or tablet in flight, and have a full battery when I land! The build of charger is quite robust and has 2 USB ports for charging multiple devices. The charger itself is slightly larger than my phone (Samsung Galaxy Nexus), but still small enough to fit in your pocket in a pinch. The battery life of the charger is great, when using it on travel it rarely dips below 1/2 battery life. HIGHLY recommended to anyone who wants to stay connected while on the road! This was my first new trent purchase and not my last. The IMP99D has a high capacity which holds a charge for a while. I got almost 5 full charges from my iphone 4s from 5% or less, everytime. If you travel alot or if the power goes out (and it does) it is capable of getting you through with more than enough juice. The bright blue lights may bother some but that is a small trade-off to get the job done. I recommend this battery if you have alot tech gadgets and/or cell phones for travel or just to have as a back-up for post hurricane situations. I recently purchased another new trent battery and am equally impressed. You just simply can't go wrong with this high capacity battery. There are some batteries that have more or less size and capacity BUT this one is a good median. (Posted on 4/10/13)
Enough charge to get multiple devices through a few days. Review by Lucky

I mainly use this as a backup charger for my iPhone when I'm out and away from an outlet or a computer to charge. I've recharged my phone to full a couple times already and haven't had to recharge the main unit yet, and it still shows a full battery.

The build quality is quite good, and I love the soft touch plastic on the housing that makes it a bit easier to grip.

The only complaints I have so far are that I wish it were a sliding switch for turning on/off the device as I carry it in a small cross pack and worry sometimes that the button is getting accidentally pushed and slowly draining the battery at times. Though this isn't a huge issue thanks to the large capacity, but it's something to be aware of. Another thing (and this isn't the devices fault, but is the fault of what you're trying to charge) is that it can't charge PS3 controllers. This may not be an issue for many people, but I take my PS3 to a friends house and don't want to be tethered to my machine if it needs to be charged and it would be helpful if I could charge it via this (or any battery pack) but somehow Sony prevents this.

Not much else to say. It's a high capacity external charger and I find it works great for what I need. It's not super portable, as it would be uncomfortable to put in a pant pocket, but would fit in an oversized coat pocket or in a smaller bag like I carry my gear around in. I find the extra capacity is worth the increase in bulk.

Much Better Than The Rest Review by Brian

I have purchased the portable power packs from other companies before at a similar price point (Monoprice). They touted the ability to charge iPads and other higher "needs" devices, but did so at a snail's pace. When connected to my iPad 3, the iGeek pack charged the iPad back to life at a pace I could see on the battery percentage gauge. Had about 1.5 lights worth of life left after charging (iPad was at 12% when I started). Used it again for my Samsung Galaxy Note II and it was a pretty quick charge to get it back to 100%. Really like the form factor and came with a travel pouch with the different micro and mini USB cords and a charging cord. I like it and very good value for the price. I just wish they would have a way to turn off the LEDs as sometimes when I travel, I have this charging overnight in the hotel room. Unless you put something over the LEDs, they are pretty bright and light up the room. That small nitpick aside, it's really a nice device. (Posted on 3/20/13)
Excellent compact device for charging smartphones and tablets Review by Mike

With new phones and new tablet computers, my old rechargeable external
battery wasn't keeping up. I went looking for a newer model and came upon
the iGeek from New Trent. There were a couple of things that caught my
attention right away - dual USB ports, 1A and 2A outputs and 9900 mAh.
This looked like the device that I wanted and I quickly ordered one. It
came quickly and was well packaged. The user manual was pretty concise and
described anything necessary to charge pretty much any device. The unit
itself is well designed and pretty self explanatory. It feels solid
without being too heavy (it is a battery after all) After a quick read
through, I plugged it in to top off the charge even though it registered 3
out of 4 lights. It completed charging in a couple of hours and I put it
away to try out later.

I didn't know how soon I would have the chance to really try it until the
next morning as I grabbed my phone I noticed that I had forgotten to plug
it in and it was almost dead. What better time than the present. I
grabbed the provided USB cable and micro USB adapter and plugged in my
phone (a Samsung S3), after turning on the iGeek The phone reassuringly
beeped and showed that it was now charging. I drove to work and let it
charge at my desk for a while until the phone looked like it had completed
charging. The iGeek still showed 3 out of 4 lights which tells me I should
be able to get several charges out. I also tested it with my Samsung
Galaxy Tab using the supplied USB adapter with my existing cable and again
again had it fully charged quickly with plenty of juice left in
the iGeek to keep it going. For the grand finale I plugged in my phone and
a Nook Color and the iGeek handled both of them with no complaints. This
was great because the Nook typically doesn't charge well without it's own
charger.

I'm very happy with this product and plan on getting one for my wife as
well. This will hopefully help her not have as many excuses of having her
phone run out of juice because she forgot to plug it in. I would happily
recommend the iGeek to anyone that is looking for an rechargeable external
battery. The fact that it comes with a soft case to keep all of the
adapters with it is a plus.

Overall rating 5/5
Pros: Two ports (1A and 2A), nice layout, multiple adapters, nice design
and soft case to hold everything except it's A/C adapter.
Cons: It has to charge with the provided A/C adapter. It would be nice to
use a standard USB micro or mini since I already have a lot of those. This
is minor issue however since it holds a charge for a long time. (Posted on 3/3/13)
Great and useful product, just a little hard to figure out at first Review by Eran
Rating
I love how quickly this battery charges my iPad (50%-100% in under 2 hrs.) and iPhone 5 (75%-100% in 20 minutes!) and it's a great and useful product to own so I would highly recommend it to anybody wanting extra life out of any portable iDevice. I was a little confused by the instructions that came with the NT99D however, and a couple things threw me off at first:

1. The drawings in the instruction book, and the photo here on Amazon, show the NT99D in an upright position however there appear to be venting ports on the bottom of the device that would be blocked when in that position. Not sure if this is a problem or not, (maybe the slots are for another purpose?) and the battery does not get hot when charging other devices but just to be safe i have been placing it flat on it's side when re-charging the battery itself to avoid any possibility of overheating.

2. the USB connections are VERY tight at first, so much so that i was actually afraid of breaking them with the amount of force it required to insert my apple USB cables the first time. it seems like the connections are loosening up now after a few uses, but they're still very tight. i guess i'd prefer that to the opposite extreme, but I do still worry about damaging the connections especially when i remove my stock iPhone 5 lightning cable as apple doesn't give you much to grab onto and with the tight connection you end of having to wiggle a little bit to get it out.

3. the mini-USB and micro-USB adapters appear to be interchangeable with the supplied USB cable. however they also fit directly onto the AC wall charger, which i think is a mistake. if you plugged these adapters directly into the wall charger and used them to charge a mini-USB or micro-USB phone or other device directly from the wall then i believe you'd be sending 9V 1000mA of power to the phone which could fry the electronics expecting a 5V (USB grade) power supply.

4. it's a little hard to figure out how to turn on the battery at first. the lights come on briefly when you touch the power button (showing you the battery level) but you actually need to hold the button down for a full 4 seconds before it powers up to a state where it will charge your devices. this is explained in the instructions but it's not exactly intuitive for those of us who like to dive right in.

Finally I'd like to offer a few suggestions for how this product could be made better in the future:
1. better instruction booklet with photographs of the product in different modes (charging from wall, charging iphone, etc.) including warnings about what not to do to avoid overheating (if applicable)
2. change size of AC/DC wall adapter (DC end) so it is not compatible with the mini and micro USB adapters; or if it IS okay to charge mini-USB and micro-USB devices directly from the wall using this AC adapter then please explain that scenario in the instructions.
3. add automatic power-on feature when a USB cable is inserted into the port so it is not necessary to hold the power button down for 4 seconds to power it on. since the USB ports are tough to use anyway i don't think the extra force necessary to push a spring-loaded plunger switch down inside the port would make much difference and i think it would make the product a lot easier and more intuitive to use.
4. offer an optional 12V car adapter for long road trips where people may need to re-charge the battery from the cigarette lighter in their car for later use at a campsite, etc.
5. the provided storage bag is a nice touch but it would be great if it had a secondary small separate compartment for cord stowage so our USB cords and adapters don't scratch the lush rubberized surface of the battery during rough travel.

fix all this and it will be 5 stars, 4 stars for now because i am tough to please but it is still a great product that i would highly recommend! (Posted on 2/27/13)
Great on the go mobile charger Review by Marvin
Rating
This item is perfect for mobile phone and tablet users alike. This item has the required adapters and can supply power or recharge your draining iPhone or iPad battery while on-the-go. This charger has a very robust build and features two usb charging ports, one for your iPhone and the other for your iPad. I have only owned the item for a few weeks, but I have charged three items including my iPhone and iPod touch and I have not required a recharge of the battery and still show 75% charger capacity. One thing to remember is that the one quick press of the on/off button will only display the charger's battery life. In order to actually charge a device, you need to hold the on/off button for a few seconds until you see your device's battery display show that it is charging. (Posted on 1/30/13)
All in all, this battery pack is a solid piece of equipment for charging a smartphone or tablet while traveling or on-the-go! Review by Anthony Y

I am giving this battery pack 4.8 stars (rounded up to five stars).
5/5 for Style & Design - The rubberized case and blue lights make it look very high-tech
5/5 for Accompaniments - Included are a nice carrying bag, micro- and mini-usb adapters, retractable usb cable, and another cable (for the Samsung Galaxy Tab).
5/5 for Compactness & Weight- Slightly bigger than a deck of cards and it weighs 230 grams or about 8 ounces (about the same as 1 Cup of water).
5/5 for User Friendliness - The operation is very simple and the user manual is thorough. The two different ports (2A & 1A) are very handy for iPads and iPhones!
4/5 for Battery Life - I have an iPhone 4s with a New Trent Power Rock battery case (IMP210B). The combined battery capacity is 3532mAh and I was able to get about two full charges from the external battery pack (after charging the external battery pack overnight). I was expecting a little bit more than that (9900mAh divided by 3532mAh = 2.8 charges), so I emailed New Trent to ask them about the issue. The reply I received said, "The math is correct but the math does not include heat loss.Though the transfer of power there is always power lost somewhere in the system. While power is being transferred between the batteries, there is heat also in the process which means energy is given off as heat." For the record, I noticed only a slight amount of warmth from my iPhone/iRock during charging, but it definitely wasn't hot. A good rule of thumb for external battery packs (in my opinion) is that you can expect about 75% of the charging capacity to be available for charging devices. My experience seems consistent with their advertising claim of the 9900mAh iGeek providing 100% battery life for an iPad 2, which supposedly has a battery capacity of approximately 7000mAh.

All in all, this battery pack is a solid piece of equipment for charging a smartphone or tablet while traveling or on-the-go! (Posted on 1/28/13)

Great Product Review by Andy

Probably, most people understand this product completely from the information and reviews. So, I won't talk about the pros and cons. For me, there really haven't been any cons, anyway. The product is a battery charger for USB powered devices. I will focus on how my family uses the product. Is it something that I use everyday of my life? The answer is no. However, when on a trip, my family (probably like a lot of your's) has a lot of devices (iPhones, iPads, and other USB powered devices). If you power this up ahead of a trip or a period where you may need some extended power on one or more of the devices, this charger is a workhorse. I have been really happy with it. It is small enough to keep in most laptop cases/backpacks, too, in the event that you would want to have it as a backup. It is true that most vehicles are coming with USB chargers or plenty of power offerings. However, when you are on a trip with 3 iPhones, 3 iPads, and a mobile broadband router, there is only so much that a vehicle can offer. This device works great in that situation. I could see where it would be great for business travelers on planes, as well. I don't want to ramble, but it is a great product. (Posted on 1/23/13)
This is a great product Review by Ulrich

This is a great product. This battery holds an impressive capacity. I did some tests to see how far I can get with it, and here are the results: For example, I fully recharged a completely empty Kindle Fire HD7, which took 3 hours on the 2A USB port and 4 hours and 45 minutes on the 1A USB plug, and I still had 25% left in the battery afterwards. The 25% should be pretty accurate because the blue indicator lights went from 50% to 25% just before it finished charging. I also tried charging my iPhone 4 for one hour on a fully charged battery pack. The iPhone 4 (2.5 years old) went from 22-81% in 1h, and the battery pack lost a bit more than 25% of its charge. Extrapolating from that, you should get at least 3 full iPhone4 charges out of it.
Apart from the impressive capacity, the battery has a great look & feel. It has a rubberized surface which makes it feel comfortable and sits in the hand easily without slipping. I find its mostly rounded form factor very good to stick it into my laptop bag or jacket without any need for a major case. The little cloth-ish bag that comes for it does the job. I also like the button (big), and the indicator lights (spacing is wide enough to make it easy to see where you stand charge-wise).
I think the weight is good for such a high-capacity battery – it does not seem to add too much weight to my bag considering that it gives me peace of mind with all my devices (I am a mobile worker!).
There are 2 USB ports on the battery. The battery comes with a bunch of plugs and adapters, which I did not use because I already have all cables I need (you probably do too). There are plenty of other reviews detailing which plugs come with the battery in case you are interested.
I cannot comment on the company’s service because everything works as expected so I haven’t had the need to contact customer service. The best customer service is the one you never need to call.
(One note: the form factor is almost the same as the same company’s more pricey “New Trent iCarrier 12000mAh” battery. So if you want even more capacity with hardly any extra size and weight and a similar form factor, you should also consider upgrading. I own both the 9900mAh and the 12000mAh and both are great!).

I have an iPhone 5 that is always with me and I am on it constantly. My life is on my phone and I need it to always be charged, that is why I decided to buy the iGeek. I am extremely happy with my purchase. It is very sleek and compact, and yet it has such a huge capacity! As long as I have my iGeek, I never have to worry about my phone running out of power.
I like to travel a lot, and I'm also situations where I'm stuck without access to electrical outlets for extended periods of time (for example, Comic Con). This is when my iGeek really comes in handy.
Despite the sleek size and high charge capacity, my favorite feature about the iGeek is that it has TWO USB ports! Usually when I'm out and about I have friends with me. My friends live on their phones just as much as I do mine, so it is great to be able to let them use my iGeek and know that I still have tons of power left over for myself.
I love my iGeek, and I am so glad I bought it. I highly recommend it! (Posted on 1/17/13)

I travel to remote locations frequently to produce outdoor television. My iGeek is the perfect tool to help me get through a full day of shooting without worrying about power to my mobile devices. Every time my iPhone makes the "charger connected" sound when plugged into my iGeek everyone starts asking questions! "What is that?", "Where can I get one!".

I can charge or power many of my tools in the field such as small cameras, iPhones, iPads, and GPS's. And the compact size of the iGeek is perfect!

The only con is that of the many adaptors included, there is not an iPhone charger adaptor included, which is why I would rate it at 4 stars. Other than that, flawless!! (Posted on 1/16/13)

I bought this because on a trip to NYC last year I found my cell with no power by 3PM. Needless to say I felt very uneasy knowing that I still had a good part of the day and a train ride before I would be able to charge my phone. Then came hurricane Sandy and while my power went out for three days my phone charged again..and again..and again! And my iPad. Never will I travel without this! Thank you New Trent! I have two of these, first one was given to me as a gift. I bought the second one from another online retailer. It works as long as your phone or device can be charged with a USB charger. I used to have a regular messaging phone that drained its battery like a smartphone. During a power outage that lasted for a few days, this charger kept my phone alive and only dropped a bar of power.

I have since upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy S3, and I realize that this charger is even more valuable with a smartphone. I can carry this in my work bag and not have to worry about my phone ever running out of battery. It even comes with a little pouch! Additionally, a recent hurricane left us without power for 10 days. I had to rely on charging our devices through 2 laptops and this. We managed to power our four cellphones for 3 days using this charger alone.

The only con I have about this product is its packaging. Opening it for the first time was somewhat of a chore because it was a tight fit. Not really significant enough to remove a star, though. Maybe just loosen it a little bit.

Word of advice: if you are ever concerned about power interruptions or power hungry mobile devices, getting a reliable product like this is a no-brainer. 5 stars. (Posted on 12/7/12)

I recently purchased the IMP99D as a battery backup for my iPad and iPhone. Since I am on the road a lot I find I tend to drain my batteries fairly quickly and wanted to ensure that didn't happen. I was very surprised by the size of the device and how easy it was to use.

It has saved me a few times now from being without power on my devices. I also love how quiet it is and the simplicity of the design. It fits well in my bag and holds a charge for a long time. My one request is to have something that could also charge my pico projector and external hard drive so that I don't have to worry about these products as well.

Definitely worth the purchase, thanks New Trent! (Posted on 12/6/12)
Great battery, great power, and always with me when I travel Review by Jeff

Packaging

The packaging of the product seemed quite good. I was not sure what all the icons along the side of the package were or meant, but they had a certain level of impressiveness. When trying to remove the product from the package, I found it somewhat hard to yank hard enough to get the plastic tray to slide out. It almost felt like it was stuck and meant to not be fully removed.

Usage

Having had a New Trent external battery before, I thought I knew how to use it, but soon found out I didn't. I chose my first device to connect to it and pressed the power button on the battery, expecting to see the device start charging. To my surprise, it did not start and instead, within a few seconds, the battery turned off. I then needed to resort to the instruction manual. As it turns out, I needed to hold down the power button instead of simply pressing it. I'm not sure the reason for this change, but it seems a little less convenient than the older models.

I like that the outside of the battery is textured. It makes it much less likely to slide off tables, trays, legs, etc. I also really like having two USB connections to charge multiple devices at once. This is a big convenience from my previous New Trent battery. I do miss the retractable charging cord for the battery on this model though. My previous battery had a handy retractable cord that made it easy to bundle the cord and take what I needed with me on trips. Now I need to coil the cord and wrap it in a twisty-tie. I see that as an inconvenience, but I can get used to it I guess.

As far as powering my devices, it seems to work wonderfully. I am confidently able to charge my iPad fully or a couple of iPhones multiple times with a single charge. That's really handy. Especially when traveling and not knowing when I'll find an outlet to charge my devices, I know that I can keep my devices fully charged and head out for the evening with a fully functioning iPad and iPhone.

One thing I did notice about the power button on the battery is that the corner mounting of it seems to be more prone to bumping and turning on. Realizing that it needs to be pressed longer to actually power the device on makes for a bit of a failsafe, but it seems to me that in the process of placing the battery in my shoulder bag, perhaps it might get pressed accidentally and stay powered on when I don't expect it to.

Slim Portability! Review by Denise
Rating
I purchased this model mainly for my new iPad. I really like this model because it is long-lasting and relatively slim. Great button placement, I love the build quality, and great portability. It has a nice non-slip coating and feels solid. You can be fooled into thinking this unit doesn't work, however. When I first plugged in my iPad and turned on the charger, it didn't register with the iPad--- no charge. I checked the connection, and even plugged in my iPhone. Still no sign of charging either device. Initially I thought the unit wasn't designed to work with my new iPad or iPhone 5, even though it said it would. Then, while my iPad was still plugged in, I held the power button down for a few seconds, and bam, it began to charge. Same scenario with my iPhone. So, once I figured that out, everything was fine and it charged my iPad with no problem. I used it for a period of time today and it still has 3/4 of charge left after being used for over an hour on my iPad while I was watching Netflix. I definitely give this unit 5 stars. I love it! I was initially surprised at how small this item is...it isn't much bigger than two iPhones put together. I've used it with iPads, iPhones, the HTC Inspire, Samsung Galaxy SII and SIII. Note the 5V/2A port does not work with the ASUS Transformer tablets. The shelf-life of the battery is a a great feature, so you don't have to worry about regularly charing it if you don't use it. The device delivers exactly as promised...very straightforward. (Posted on 10/17/12)
Great backup battery! Review by Kim

I have the HTC EVO 4G LTE, which does not have a removable battery. So I purchased this to be my backup. I love it! It does fit in my purse, though with everything else, it's full now... lol It lasts for several recharges for my phone (plus I'm always loaning it to daughters... lol). It has two USB ports, so 2 girls can charge at the same time. I love the soft-touch material (NO FINGERPRINTS) that it's covered with. My husband has the more powerful iCruiser but he was jealous of my iGeek! ;-) Many, many times I would have been without my phone if I had not had this great tool! (Posted on 10/11/12)

When i received the IMP99D, i knew it would be a quality products just from the packaging. I have had this charger for about 2 months, it has saved me on numerous occasions!
PROS-
-Surprisingly small and mobile: It size is comfortable and can fit in any bag, even my skinny jeans!
-One and Two amp charger- this was incredibly useful when i needed a fast charge, or when i needed to charge two devices simultaneously.
-Great packaging and handy accessories: With several USB for basically every products, there wont be a need to go out and buy a new USB cable.
CONS-
-LED battery indicator- The lights are become solid blue when you are either charging the device, or charging your device. Ive noticed the light is so strong it brightens my dark room.
-Not that durable: On the split shown on the picture, if you drop your charger, it can split open. it has happened to me.

Conclusion: the IMP99D is a simple, yet reliable product ideal for all that are always looking for a charge. I would Highly recommend this products, and brand.

Great Product for travelers!!!! Review by Omar

-The battery amount its so great, i charge my iPhone 3Gs couple of times from no charge and my new iPad couple of times (at the same time!!! GREAT) and works perfectly
The time to charge the iPhone its just fast enough
the additional adapter coming in the box are so perfect for me, i have some another gadgets like a portable speaker and my wife´s Galaxy SII and the adapters works just perfect.
Retractable Usb cord are so nice and practical to reduce space of my bag without long cables
The lights indicators are so nice and useful its to important to know how much charge the battery had and the lights works so very well for that.
The size its ok, not bigger but not smaller

Some Cons
I know we the regular people who travels a lot wanna a carry as less as possible and the light as possible could be better. So the battery size its perfect but could be great get a little weight less, its not heavy but for a traveler 1 Gram its a lot.
Doesn't charge mi new iPad and my daughter's iPad 2 at the same time could be great had a 2 amp usb port at the same time

The IMP99D is a great charger. I also have the new Trent iTourch. The iTourch is more of a pocket charger. This unit has much more power than the iTourch. The IMP99D is a great battery to keep in your backpack or purse. This is awesome for students. Monday through friday you could charge your phone or iPad during school, then recharge the IMP99D over the weekend. This unit charges fast for its size. It charges about as fast as my much smaller iTourch.
I dislike not using my phone because I am worried the battery being too low. The portable power is awesome.
I would recommend this charger for anyone who is a heavy cell phone user. The price is right, 5 stars!! (Posted on 9/27/12)
A must for travellers!!!!! Review by Nancy

I was pleasantly suprised at the number of cords included (especially the AC power adapter) when I opened the package. I loved the fact that I could use it with so many of my devices without having to buy any cords or adapters. I read through the instructions and it said to allow 7.5 hours of charging time. I had it plugged in next to my computer at work and kept an eye on it throughout the day. It did a full charge in about 5.5 hours - which exceeded my expectations. I thought the instructions were very clear.

I took it on a trip to Boston which included 2 hours in a shuttle up to the airport, 2 hours at the lounge in the airport, 5.5 hours flying time and another hour shuttle time in Boston. I was using a Samsung Galaxy tablet and Samsung phone on my trip. My phone seems to use up batteries quickly depending on what I'm using. My tablet usually lasts about 5-7 hours when watching movies or surfing depending on screen brightness and what other software I'm running. Having the IMP99D iGeek with me was fantastic - because I had enough power to recharge both devices to last the 10.5 hours I needed with some to spare.

I've been using it at the office when I'm away from my desk for long periods of time or in meetings. No need to fight for the one or two outlets to plug something in to recharge. It exceeded my expectations.

The size is perfect - not too big and heavy for the capacity. A co-worker of mine has a backpack battery setup that has 1/3rd the power and is big and bulky. They were really impressed with the iGeek when I showed it to them.

If I had to suggest any improvements - it would be the protective case. I wish it was either bigger, had two compartments, or had two bags included so that you could protect the device and carry the cords with it. I know that's nit-picky - but really that's the only thing I can suggest because everything else is fantastic.

I was looking for a good battery backup for my HTC , Itouch, Touchpad and I decided to try iPulse sleek charger. It arrived promptly and has worked as advertised and It was half charged out of the box. It's size can easily fit in my pants pocket for easy transportation sometimes I carry it in my Touchpad bag. The iPulse charger holds and provides a good charge and I hope that it will continue to meet my expectations. I also enjoy the fact that the unit came with multiple plugs for different devices and it allows me to charge two different devices at the same time. I will definitely be bringing this device along during my future trips oversea(I will not run around to look for electrical outlets at airports anymore). I want to to say that so far I am very impressed by this device and it is well worth the money, highly recommend New Trent and the IPulse sleek charger.

Happy Customer

I have had my iGeek for over a month and love it. I use it to charge my Samsung SkyRocket and Galaxy Tab 8.9 when on the go or traveling in the car. It is able to charge my phone several times without needing to be recharged and is capable of charging my phone and tablet at the same time. I also appreciate that they accounted for the different current needs for the Galaxy Tab line by including a usb to usb dongle that you attach so that your device charges properly. All in all I am in pressed with its size and versatility. I would be nice if a future version of the product could plug directly into the wall like the Zagg Sparq, so that I did not need to carry around another ac adapter on longer trips. Well this is a superb product, I initially had read review with this product as well as buyer feedback. With that and the product reviews buy others I absolutely loved died to give the product a try and this IMP99D has blown me away. I get between four and five full charges on my Samsung galaxy nexus and iPad gets two to three charges off of this with still a little over. It is very durable and well constructed. Easy to turn on and simple to operate, without being able to accidentally turn it on. There was no loose parts or strange noises, charges up in no time, and doesn't even get hot while doing so. I would definitly recommend this to others seeking on taking a portable power source on trips, or just to have incase of emergencies.

Thanks again, new trent!

It is easy to use. It can power up my iphone through a USB cable and be recharged up through AC charger. By now, I have used Imax Power IMP880 to charge my iphone three times and it still has half of the battery. By the way, it's comparatively small, so I can put both of it and iphone in my coat pocket. The Best Iphone Charger I've ever owned!!! Review by Brian Fuchs
Rating
Let's face it, the battery life on the iPhone is awful. While I don't see myself as any sort of power user, I'm lucky if I end the day with 5% left on the phone. I chose New Trent (formerly iMaxPower) because I rarely see products from any company on Amazon that are consistently rated 4 1/4 ro 5 stars across the board. Every review praised the quality of the product, and even better - the technical support.

I needed a case with battery for my new iPhone, as well as a standalone booster charger because our family is going on a 6-hour plane trip and I need the iPhone to last the entire trip. My kids are also bringing their DSi, so we needed the booster to charge that as well.

So this review covers all of the New Trent products I purchased: the IMP130, IMP550, and IMP880.

IMP130

The IMP130 is an iPhone case that contains an integrated 1700mAh battery. That battery is higher capacity (according to wiki) than the one in the iPhone 3GS (which is supposedly around 1219mAh). Capacity isn't everything; battery quality varies greatly. After using the IMP130 for a week or so, I estimate the it to effectively double my time between charges.

The IMP130 case completely covers the iPhone (other comparable cases leave the top exposed). To put the iPhone in the case, you detach the top of the IMP130 case and slide the iPhone into the bottom part, where it docks to the standard Apple connector built into the case. You then have the option to re-attach the top piece, providing protection to the top of your iPhone, or leaving it off. The only reason to choose to leave the top part off is that when the IMP130 is fully assembled, access to the iPhone buttons is difficult at best. You need to use your fingernail to mute the phone and access the volume controls. I hope New Trent addresses this in a future version. The standby button and headphone jack are much more easily accessible. NOTE: If you do decide to leave the top off the case, there is not much friction holding the iPhone in the bottom part of the case. It feels secure, but I would not trust it - I don't think the designers expected you to use it that way, but the case design is very clean even without the top piece (as if it was designed with that in mind). I find no degradation in 3G signal due to the case, nor are the speakers degraded.

Now the best part - for those of you who (like me) have a full-body Invisible Shield on your iPhone, the phone WILL stil completely fit in the the IMP130! I have not heard of that with any other case.

The IMP130 is about 3/4 the weight of the iPhone, so it almost doubles the overall weight. It also adds a bit of bulk around all sides - but provides a good feel in your hands. The texture of the case provides a good amount of grip, but I still prefer the grip the Invisible Shield provides. To me, the IMP130 case could use a little more anti-slip texture.

The IMP130 is charged through a standard Micro USB cable (included). Say good-bye to the proprietary iPhone cable. This is a very good thing. The case has an on/off switch in the bottom. When the switch is Off, you are running on your iPhone battery. When the switch is On, you are still using the iPhone battery, but it is being charged at the same time by the IMP130 battery. When the IMP130 finally gives out, the "charging" indicator on your iPhone turns off and you are solely using the iPhone battery. Whether the switch is on or off, you can still sync through the Micro USB cable. Any off-the-shelf Micro USB cable will work with this product. Here's the typical scenario: you come home with your iPhone at 90% charge and your IMP130 at 0%. You connect the cable to your PC to do your sync. The IMP130 begins to charge and the iPhone starts to charge once the IMP130 has enough juice. After a couple of hours, both are at 100%. The IMP130 has 3 LED indicators that show the current charge (100%/66%/33%/0%).

Finally - and this is a GREAT one - the IMP130 has a built-in super-bright white LED that can be used as a flashlight (say good-bye to those stupid "flashlight apps"). It also solves the problem of those impossible low-light pictures. The LED has a switch to turn it on or off.

In all, the IMP130 is really a great product. The only negative is the hard-to-access volume and mute controls. And remember, if you have an Invisible Shield full body wrap, it WILL fit in the case nicely.

IMP550

While the IMP130 is great, there's no way it will take the iPhone on a 6-hour flight of pure video and 3D games. So that's why I also got the IMP550. This is a brand new product from New Trent. It's the big brother of the IMP130 (much bigger in fact). It has a very large 5500mAh capacity. That pretty much quadruples the iPhone battery.

Unlike the IMP130, this case does not fully enclose the iPhone; it leaves the top exposed - granting easy access to all of the iPhone buttons. The case is lined with a velvety material which not only feels neat, it helps keep the iPhone in place. An iPhone with a full-body wrap Invisible Shield DOES fit in the case.

Also unlike the IMP130, the sync interface is not Micro USB, but rather standard Apple. That means there is no cable included with the IMP550; you can use your original cable that came with your iPhone.

Because this is a serious battery, the case adds serious weight to your iPhone, as well as bulk - mostly overall thickness. However, unless you have very small hands, I think you will find that the case feels much more comfortable in your hands than the iPhone itself. I find it to be quite ergonomic. I also find the grip of the IMP550 to be slightly superior to that of the IMP130.

The IMP550 does not have an on/off switch; it provides a charge to the iPhone when it needs to. Like the IMP130, you will charge both the case and the iPhone while you are connected to your PC, wall charger, or car charger.

Personally, I don't think the IMP550 is suited to be a full-time case solution for your iPhone. It is simply too bulky and heavy for that (as is any other 5000+ mAh battery case). It's great for long trips, golf courses, or any other time you will not have access to a charger for many many hours.

Sadly, the IMP550 has no flashlight LED (maybe on their next revision?). Three LEDs indicate charge, and a fourth tells you if the IMP550 is charging your iPhone.

In summary - another 5-star product.

IMP880

When I am on that long trip, my iPhone is covered by the IMP550. But what about my kid's DSi and my wife's smartphone (not everyone has an iPhone)... New Trent has that covered, too. The IMP880 is a standalone battery that charges a multitude of devices. It has a staggering 8800mAh of capacity - almost two IMP550 worth, or roughly 6-7 times the capacity of an iPhone. That's some serious capacity. The unit is quite small - about the size of a man's wallet. It weighs about the same as a man's wallet (before a Vegas trip).

Four LEDs indicate battery charge and a Test button lets you know the current capacity. NewTrent made a Youtube video demonstrating this unit. In that video, they say you need to turn the unit on by holding down the Test button for 5 seconds before you charge something. I find that the unit always charges a device if needed; maybe I have a newer revision.

The battery may be small, but the wall adapter used to charge the IMP880 is not. The Youtube video shows a nice, small wall-wart. My unit came with a very bulky in-line AC adapter. It is larger than the IMP550 itself. Not a big deal, but much larger than I expected. Remember, the AC adapter is something you pack in your suitcase; you carry the small IMP880 on the plane fully charged.

The IMP880 can charge a variety of items, and has several ports:
DC-IN jack connects to the AC adapter. This is how you charge the IMP880 from the wall.
DC-OUT jack is only used for charging specific notebook PCs. My unit included a cable for this, but I am not certain NewTrent will support notebook charging going forward. I do not see notebook devices listed as charge targets any longer on their website.
Type-A USB connector is used to charge your iPhone, Blackberry or DSi.

At this point, I need to speak about the USB cable that is included with the IMP880. The IMP880 replaces a smaller charger called the IMP500. This was the workhorse of the imaxPower line of products. In fact, the IMP550 is basically the IMP500 designed into an iPhone case. The reason I bring up the IMP500 is that - like the IMP880 - it charges devices through a USB cable. This cable has a standard USB-A connector on one end, and a generic adapter on the other. You can configure the cable for different devices by connecting a different plug on the adapter end. That way, you can use the USB cable to charge an iPhone, or Blackberry, or DSi, etc. The USB cable that was included with the IMP500 had a FEMALE adapter on the end. All of the flavors of connectors had a male adapter. The USB cable that is included with the IMP880 has a MALE adapter on the end. All of the flavors of connectors have a female adapter.

So what does this mean? For me, it meant a slight problem when I tried to use the IMP880 to charge my kid's DSi. You see, neither the IMP880 nor IMP500 come with a DSi adapter. Not a problem - the website clearly points that out. So when I purchased the IMP880, I also bought the only DSi adapter they sold (it was about $5). Unfortunately, that adapter is male, and only fits the IMP500 cable. It will not fit the USB cable that came with the IMP880.

My solution was to then buy an IMP500 USB cable... (Posted on 1/16/12)
The Best Iphone Charger I've ever owned!!! Review by D. Silverman

I have purchased many items for my Iphones in the past, but never felt compelled to write a review until now.
I recently purchased the New Trent IMP880 8900mAh External battery pack to go with my new Iphone 4. I am a mobile professional who uses my Iphone 4 for my business needs and can't afford for my phone's battery to not be at full charge. As any Iphone 4 user will tell you, the battery on this new Iphone is terrible. The first place I went to look for a charger is New Trent. Why?? I have purchased several external chargers from them in the past and their products AND service have ALWAYS met my needs.

Now on to specifics of the device. It looks like an external hard drive, but it looks sleek and and has a rubber feel to it that makes for the perfect tactile sensation. I never feel like I am going to drop it. The ports are clearly marked and the on/off button is big and easy to press. When you connect your device and turn on the IMP880, a cool blue led light lights up markers on the side to show you how much charge the IMP880 has left. It looks like something out of a futuristic movie and has a Wow factor when people see it. I had 3 people at the doctor's office ask me what it was and even the non-tech people were impressed!

From a functional standpoint, the IMP880 is an impressive beast - in that it provides up to 500% of the Iphone's battery life. I have already fully charged my Iphone 4 three times without needing to charge the IMP880 yet.
I can't stress how convenient that is - not needing a computer or wall outlet to charge up my phone.

The IMP880 comes with several different attachments and an impressive cord specifically for the Iphone 4. The last charger I had, the cord would frequently come loose, but this one is a solid fit with perfect length.
When I went to Disney last year, I used a New Trent charger for my Iphone 3G and words can't express how convenient that was. These things are small and easily fit in your pocket or backpack etc..

Here's the rest of what came in the IMP880 box:

Imp880 external battery pack
A Regular USB cable for charging cell phone device
iPhone adapter for 4G 3Gs 3G iPhone, 3G iPad and iTouch
MiniUSB adapter for Blackberry, Tour, Curve and Bold
MicroUSB adapter for Blackberry, Storm
UL certified AC Wall Outlet plug with voltage range 100V-240V suitable for worldwide travelers
English user manual

Last but not least is the manufacturer's service. I could do an entire review on New Trent, but I will give you the highlights. Before I purchased the IMP880, I emailed the company some questions. Not only did I get an immediate response back (10 minutes), but I believe the owner himself responded. Mr. Huong is his name and he was more than happy to answer my questions in a clear and enthusiastic manner. I rarely see this in today's business world. Secondly, my dog chewed up my ac wall outlet plug to charge the IMP880 and I didn't know what to do. I contacted New Trent and Mr. Huong quickly responded to my email(minutes again)and arranged for me to get a replacement. That folks, is service and how business should be.

In conclusion, if you are in need of an external charger for you mobile device, these products by New Trent are second to none. Great build quality, functionality and customer service that is truly customer friendly and
focused. (Posted on 1/16/12)

FAQ

Q - Can I use my electronic device while it is charging through the battery?

Our batteries do not support pass-through charging at this time. We do not recommend charging devices with the battery while the battery itself is being charged, as this will severely stress the battery and have a negative impact on the battery cells and the overall lifespan of the battery.

At this time, we would advise all users to charge the batteries first, before using it to charge other devices.

Q - What is the difference between the 1A and 2.1A output charge ports?

a) The 1A is generally for cell/smart phones and other small devices.

b) The 2.1A is generally for larger devices, such as the Apple iPad and other tablets.

Q - What happens if I plugged my phone into the 2.1A port?/Can I charge two phones at once?

While you can plug your phone into the 2.1A output 2 for a quicker charge, we do not recommend doing so, as you are essentially outputing twice the charge into your phone's battery.
The phone battery may generate more heat as a result, which may affect the battery's life over time.

Q - Why does my battery not charge my electronic device, it is fully charged?

a) Certain models of our batteries has a delay function.
To bypass the delay function, you need to depress the power button down for around five seconds.
The delay function key is to protect the user from wasting power on their battery when an object in their bag bumps into the power button.
